The results of this puhl have shocked me so far.  As of now, only 50% (actually less, giving the BOD) of the people immediatley take Grich out.   If you include the sometime voter, 25% of the people let grich play most or all of the game.  I would figure that he's one of the most subbed batters in all of RBI.  i would be wrong...

Gantry

I just added a Grich in RBI section to his page, let me know if we agree/disagree with what I wrote up...

I don't use my PHs soon enough when I infrequently use Cal, so Grich/Boone usually see an AB, whichever one does worse comes out

The Raiders are a successful organization

Grich hardly ever gets any AB's for me, but I didn't want to vote for the "It's been years" option because I didn't want to disrespect the man on his birthday.

Gantry

Lying to the man on his birthday is just about the most disrespectful thing you can do...

Ahem.

Too bad Grich wasn't on a team like Ho 'cause he would probably be one of the better hitters on the team.  But as it is, he nary sees an ab from me.

Well then, happy belated birthday Bobby!  (Heh heh,  that's my first name too).

I have his 1972 Topps rookie baseball card,  does he ever look different.  I mean, compared to a 1987 Topps card of his I have.

Usually when I play ( I haven't played in at least a year, my Super Nes is hooked up.  (Just beat Lufia Fortress of Doom, now started on Chrono Trigger),  I keep him in for 2-3 at bats.  He CAN provide some good power usually.

I've hit homers with every non-pitcher in the game.  I played one 9-game season with each team, there were some players that I hadn't homered with, so I just tried again against any team before I'd finally get one.  I hit two with Ozzie Smith one season!  And in one GAME,  I hit 5 balls off the top of the right field wall with Wally Backman that were just centimeters (in real life) from going out, heh heh.  But later on I finally got one with him.

As for Bill James and his Baseball Encyclopedias,  there's a ranking system in there called Batter/Fielder wins.  It tells how many games players have won with their bats and how many runs they've saved for their teams, with a decimal ranking.  Bobby Grich's ranking is over 50.0, and he's listed as one of the all-time 100 greatest players.  He consistently got marks of 4.0 and higher (at least 5-6 total times) which is really good.  And most of the others were 2.0 to 3.5

Barry Bonds' total BFW through 2004 is over 120.0!  Babe Ruth's is around 112.

In the 2004 edition (up to 2003 stats), both Bonds and Ruth had the EXACT mark of 112.

Good stuff Andy/Metal/Bobby, and welcome to the boards!  Though I recognize your email as a long time fan, have you ever signed up for the boards before back in the day...

Hi.  I'm pretty sure I haven't signed up already once before.  If I did, it was on web tv.  Last July 30th,  lightning struck right in our backyard, knocked out our phone lines and killed the web tv system.  On August 25,  I went and bought the new MSNtv II system for $210,  hooked it up the same day (took 3 hours to connect), and I've been loving it ever since.  It's alot faster.

I wouldn't even remember my password or username if I did sign in before, heh heh.

I'm sure you remember me from those emails though, i think you mentioned that already.....

I'm just glad I signed up now.  I have hundreds of topics to look at, lol.

Gantry

Glad to have ya, and you will soon see that I'm much better on the forums than with email...  98 unread messages in my inbox as we speak.

Metal King

Well I guess I should say thank you for welcome me here.

98 unread emails?  I just got done deleting over 4,200 of those stupid things!  I have two usernames,  one I rarely use, so I never check the mail there.  I could only delete 100 at a time.  It sucked ass.

Heh,  Bobby Grich is one of those player names where it sounds funny if you switch the letters around.  Grobby Bitch, LOL.  Chuck Finley's is pretty funny too.
