I'll take Kirk Gibson (fistpump)

Stock

Nomaaa is up for 2 picks.

Mr. Blubbo

Nomaaa isn't going to be around until 9pm.  That is a wasted day.
Here's your ball!

Big Hath

exactly

is he in school or something?  EDF should get in touch with his administrative cohorts and have nomaaa pulled out of class to make his picks

Shooty

One option is to give Nomaa the guys with the next top power rankings (Murphy, Armas) and move on.

His AIM account's logged on and doesn't read idle, so I've messaged him.

You know as a BoSox fan he's going to take Armas anyway, I think Shooty may have a viable plan.  Maybe he'd prefer Burks over Murphy though, I dunno.

Thought about doing that, but really want everyone to get the players they want.
I think as long as we can finish this thing by Friday, we should not have a problem.  Hopefully after my message, we can cruz through this thing.

You know, after thinking about it, I remember how Nomaaa was such a loyal fan in the last fantasy league that he picked Wade "Fucking" Boggs while much better picks were available, just since he was such a huge beantown fan.  So I am 99% sure that he wants Armas and Burks.  And I am willing to go on a limb to take personal responsibility if I am incorrect here and offer Nomaaa to trade those players with any of my pics on the off chance he is dissatisfied.

I think it's important to keep this sucker rolling.  A long, drawn-out draft was one of the things that doomed that aforemetioned previous fantasy league.

So, pending the permission of Stock and barring any major objections, I move we just give Nomaaa Armas/Burks and move on in the draft.

The only problem with that is we will only get to the end of round 3 and we will be in the same place as we are now.  Will we just continue to give him Boston players?

If everyone else wants to move forward regardless, I am willing to give Nomaa burks/armas contingent on Octos "deal".
Someone else please second this request, and it will be done.
I still say we give hime 'till 1130 cst to respond to the IM though.

Edit:  Jim Rice is up there as well.  Are you sure Armas/Burks would be his picks?

Just wanted to let everyone know that during the day I'll be around, albeit sporatically, but after 7PM I'll be around most of the night (huge midweek loser here). However, today and tomorrow I'm training a few classes, so I'll PM my picks or call Octo with my picks.

Isn't Nomaa typically online during the early afternoon? Should we set a time limit to make his picks and if he doesn't just give him two studs (Burks and Buckner?) from Boston?

That probably wouldn't be fair to him since those rules weren't in place when the draft started

Mr. Blubbo

Armas and Burks sound good to me.

Better that we get to the end of round 3, then stay stuck at the end of round 1.

How many rounds is that draft anyways?

Effective are the drafting rules which will go into effect as soon as Nomaa makes his next two picks:

Once a pick is made, the next person has 2 hours to make his next pick.
This rule will take effect from 8am to 10pm CST.  (ie.. if a pick is made at 930pm, the next person will have until 830am the next morning).

If the next pick is not made in the 2 hour time frame (or I do not have a ranked draft list for your team), you will be given the player with the highest power number available sorted by ascending contact and then descending speed values.
If at any time you feel that you may not be able to make your next pick, it is your responsibility to either:
1.  Get me a ranked list of YOUR choosing.
2.  Get someone else a ranked list that will be able to draft on your behalf.

I hate to double back on what I said earlier, but just do not feel that it would be fair to Nomaaa, as there were no rules in place.

Those rules sound good.  And although giving Nomaaa those picks could potentially allow us to get through two more rounds (before he would come up again), I understand and respect your position.  I was gonna dissent, but then I remembered you've got the power to rig my games.  Kidding.  I do think it's cool that you started this league, and it's very big of you to do this for the rest of us, and [edit: you do have your own team after all, slim.  Still though.]

Also there will be egg on your face when Nomaaa rolls by tonight and picks Armas/Burks.

Nomaa will pick Rice as 1 of his 2

You might be right, I guess the monster speed advantage Timmy B has is basically negligible given that the games will be computer-played.  I'd take Burks hands down in any non-simmed league though.

Edit:  Fuck that, Stock's playing the offense.  Timbo all the way.

nomaaa

hey, i got out of school early to get home and do this before my game.

oddly enough, contemplating my choices, i gotta go with my homeboys burks and noturmasbutarmas.

i thought about jim rice, but, yes, octo knows me well. i like speed. gimme tim, err, ellis.
