I don't understand why you would possibly not include Billy Madlock with your RBI legends.  The guy is a beast.  He doesnt have the same shock value as say, Terry Puhl, but despite having 14 homers he hits like he has 60.  I put his power level somewhere between evans and mcgwire.  His lack of speed on the basepaths notwithstanding, he is still an absolute monster.  Sub him for hernanadez in the 5 spot, and let the good times roll.  If you can overlook madlock for teuful as as RBI legend, then I can't respect anything you say.

madlock's numbers are too good to merit being a legend... that status goes to the guys who arent supposed to mash yet they always seem to come up large.  madlock has 14 knocks whereas most of the legends are in single digits, most often less than 5.

Hey Miker, it's Herndon, not Hernndez. Just helping you out.

Finally, someone else has the same respect for Bill Madlock.  As you can see, he is the best pinch hitter.  The way I look at it, if there are 2 outs in the ninth and I need a big pinch hit, there is no one better than Madlock to come through.  I would choose him over any other pinch hitter.  A beast in the 5 hole.  The guy is a true professional hitter.

There are a couple reasons why Madlock wasn't a legend.

1)  The RBI Legends page was originally meant for giving props to the heroes of RBI who most people don't know anything about.  Given that Madlock is a very well-known player (and got some Hall-of-Fame votes), we didn't include him.   That is also why Armas and Burks aren't on there...

2)  None of use Madlock as a starter on a consistent basis.  I know he has the pop, but we are lefty-bigots over here.  Madlock is very prone to the double-play for us, so we go Sheridan (and Bergman for a couple of us) over Mad-Dog.  He is a terror as a one-AB pinch hitter though...

3)  When we got a legend for every team up there, we were content with the legends of RBI.  The only team that has more than one legend was Cali, and that's because they are my top team (and I did most of the writeups).   They do seem to be a success, so perhaps I'll get around to adding a few more.

I got no beef with Madlock, so perhaps he'll get his legen page up there someday...

anyone who is on an rbi roster is a legend as far as i am concerned...  lets give it up to dimebag (dino) darryl strawberry who gets to spend the next 18 months trading cigarettes for phone privledges...  way to go darryl, enjoy your time in the hole.

i will say it here, bill madlock rules...first off, props to whoever used the term "professional hitter"...although that is usually reserved for mr. heath coming off the bench, ive dubbed madlock the best pure hitter in baseball.....im not sure why, but the guy does nothing but produce...the only man ever,  between me and t that is, to hit 5 homeruns in one curve pitch game....the case can be made for him being the most dangerous 5 hitter, and him and rupert jones vie for the most consitently lethal hitters off the bench....

there was a time where madlock was feared around these parts... however, nowadays, he hasnt been the same old guy.  thus, sheridan has assumed his spot in the five hole and is solid each and every game.  madlock is still there for a late inning situation but no longer plays nine innings...

The dee-nee house is in the same position as Gwynn, Madlock has his moments and used to be the top dog off the bench, but he has clearly been usurped by Sheridan.  If you go a second sub on Detroit and aren't all lefties, Madlock is the obvious choice.  But I can't ever seen him taking Sheridan's place in a straight-pitch game...

I can't believe yall leave Bill Madlock on the bench.  He thrives as the 5th batter in that lineup.  If yall were smart you would put PS in the hole instead of Matty Nokes.  He is a better hitter.  Gets more hits and he is always a candidate for a double.  Madlock is a better hitter, but he is better as the 5th batter, and PS is better than Matty.

Sheridan and Madlock are both good, I usually start one in the 5 hole depending on if the pitcher is righty or lefty. then later if the pitcher gets changed the other goes in.

i feel that fatty matty gets a bit of a bad rap too....slow as shit, true.....always swinging for the fences, sure....but the guy was solid in my last two series....and is looking very good behind the plate....how do you guys feel about candice bergman?....he never gets much pub....

also, daryl evans is now referered to as "linda evans" or "wasnt she on dynasty?"

bergman is third fiddle on a team with great pinch hitters... it isnt so much a knock on him as it is props to their bench...on any other team, he is probably first off the bench.
