Joe Dirtbag mentioned that the runner doesnt always have the same lead off 1st.  i tried it, and only once it happened, but the runner had a small lead.   the other times the runner would have 1 foot on the turf and 1 on the grass and a big lead.

i got pissed cause i kept hitting homers or pop outs, so i really didnt have many base runners for 6 innings of a game to actually get a good variety of men on base.

more research needs to be done to look for tendencies.

My pitcher was picked off the other day, a legit pick off to.

I start the runners more often than not, it was maybe the third pitch of the at bat, and I heard a sound which somehow had me think that the pitcher was going into the wind up, it was indeed a pick off, I started to second as soon as the screen switched, and slid back with the throw barely beating my runner.

It was pathetic, and we laughed about it for a good three minutes.

is he talking about quick-pitching the batter?  the runner will stop his lead-off wherever he is when the pitcher starts his delivery - if you wait before pitching the runner takes a full lead-off

now this is just on the pitching-batting screen, not sure if it actually makes a difference when it switches to the defense-baserunning view

Reminds me of Anchorman when he says something like

"I wrote it in my diary and laughed about it later that night."  :D

I'm going to take your NES controller and jam it so far up your ass that you'll need to learn how to work the 'A' button with your small intestine.

I don't believe this is the only time the runner gets a different lead.
