FCE Ultra Help

Can someone explain how to use FCE Ultra with a keyboard?  I have found sites telling me what keys correspond to the NES controller, but when I press the key nothing happens.

you have to map the keys byt going to:

config > input > then configure port 1 as game pad.

that menu will open another little window that you direct the mouse to buttons and then type the key you want to use to correspond to that button. 

i've used the keyboard for years.... you'll get used to it and start playing well after a while.

config>input>go to configure.  push the "up" box, then whichever button you want to use for "up".   repeat for the rest of the buttons.  hope that helps.
