12/16/06 Fort Dodge Tourney.

weve got this set up for next saturday.  5 players/10 teams.  Nate Nate Nate is finally involved in one of these so the competition has gotten tougher.

it's 1 SP/ATG style/Double elimination.  Best of 3 series in most all the winners bracket.  The championship round is best of 5.  The losers bracket becomes a single game elimination for the 1st few rounds.  We'll be using the big screen TV that i posted on the Pic thread and a 2nd one for the other game.  Non stop RBI all day, with 1 guy getting  a break between series.

HOU and STL were awarded byes in thier brackets. In each bracket, the 2 teams that lose in the 1st round from each side of the bracket will play in an elimination game, with the winners going on to face HOU and STL in a best of 3 series.  This sets up the possibility of there being a bye in the losers bracket should  either of those 2 teams lose any time in the winners bracket.

I have HOU and NY as my teams.
Nate has SF and CAL as his.
after placing HOu and STL with byes, we randomly set up the brackets by drawing team names from a hat.
The match-ups are as follows with the 2 brackets seperated by the --------- dashes.

HOU-TBT (1st round bye)

AL vs SF-Nate
DET vs NL
----------------------------------------------------------

STL(1st round bye)

CAL-Nate vs NY-TBT
BOS vs MIN

The guy who has yet to win a series in our tourneys got the 1st pick in each bracket and took NL and BOS.  the others guys had 2,3,4 and then that order was reversed in the other bracket.  nate had 3rd pick so he kept his 3rd place pick in each bracket.  Since they think im better than them, i got the 5th pick each bracket, with the stipulation that i could not have both bye teams.  this in effect allowed me to pick 4th and thats how i got NY.

The HOU bracket has the better teams, so i'll have to work hard to get a win with them vs whoever i face.  I do like my chances in the bottom bracket with NY.  I think if i can get past Nate/CAL then i have a chance  Theres a chance the guy with BOS will lose to the much better player that has MIN, meaning that the bottom bracket could become wide open.

overall the draft was interesting with a few surprises as some took the best team, and others looked at the 1st round match-up or the brackets strength to determine thier picks.  the tourney is scheduled to start at about 11 AM next saturday.

UPDATES!

I got some poster board and found a site with some printable 8 team brackets and am working on the Offical tourney bracket/board now as im putting it all together.  This is nerdery at its finest!     Nate and I have a trophy for winning The Tecmo Bowl, so i think a trophy of sorts should be in order here.  Maybe i can get the guys to cough up 5 bucks each and help cover some of the cost.

I'll see if my sister in law still has her camcorder.   I could get some on tape, then record it to dvd and go from there.  Maybe a RBI tourney youtube video is in order.

Pics will be taken, and hearts will hopefully be ripped out as my Mets win it all.  With that said, I'll prolly lose to nates CAL in the 1st round then get beat quickly in the elimination bracket.

BRACKETS ARE FOR REAL!  im always dicking around with my Tecmo chips and seeing just what kind of divisions and conferences could randomly occur with some USA vs Japan Tecmo carts thansk to the chips.  And we also have our share of torunaments too, so i throw them togther for the hell of it just to see what kind of stellar match-ups could occur. 

Brackets rule.....they are better than Bdawks bloody stool, darksides receeding hairline, nachos pooping problems, and bonny's grey nut hairs. 

This big ass bracket and info thing im making is taking on a  life of its own right now....holy shit this things is becoming awesome!

i staerted by printing out mini team names to fill in the original seedings......then included a little list of players and teams with our full names and what teams we have...and a big thing in the corner that says fort dodge, ia december 2006 rbi basebal tourney....then i printed off some stuff like championship round, and elimination round and added in some fancy dancy arrows as well.   

this things is already ruling, and the tourney hasnt started yet.

Brackets are awesome. When we had tourneys and I had a lot of hair, I use to draw up the winner's and loser's bracket for the 16 man tourney. My shit was all meticulous with the ruler and special poster paper and It must have taken me hours to set it up right and professional. Now I got a program that can spit out a bracket with 120 teams. Not as fun as doing it yourself.

slow ass WR's and an above average defense.  maybe the its the wrecking ball that is dorsett, and elways rocket arm and fleet feet?

Rulon johnes is an under-rated defender.  he needs more love than he gets.

well, i used to be sa fran, but i just mopped up.
no contest.
so i looked for a balanced team that i could enjoy.
i fiddled with sea, but they pissed me off more than not.
the way we play, we give the less skilled players the best teams (sf, chi, ny)
then the others who are close, a selection of the rest.
every time we get people convinced that dal or min is going to win, even when we tell them it's an awful idea.

I got a good round of practice games in tonight vs nate and another guy from the tourney. 

Hopefully NY will be crowned champs this tourney, i'll do my best to provide update whenever possible.  it'll be non stop RBI for about 6 hours.
