Isn't there a thread about this in the Anything Goes section?

How could Chris Brown be placed on the Giants' Arcade team? He had one all-star season (.317) and never hit above .271 for the rest of his career? I hate to step on the man's grave at this time, but I recall that he was one of those guys who was "hurt" all the time, taking time off when most big leaguers would play thru their ailments.

Other Arcade candidates for the Giants?

Bill Madlock, 1977 (.302); Jim Ray Hart, 1967 (.289, 29 hr; also had about 5 other seasons superior to Brown); Hank Thompson, 1954 (26 hr) or even Bobby "Shot Heard Around the World" Thompson, 1952 (.270, 24 hrs)...

What were those game creators smoking?

With that all said and done, it is a sad day when someone leaves this world in such a tragic way. My prayers go out to the Brown family.

It was still early in Brown's career and I think they were anticipating much better out of him...plus, he was trendy at the time...all-star as a rookie...

Just like McGwire being placed on the team, the roles could have easily been reversed.

Anyone else remember that OTL story on Chris Brown a few years back while he was at haliburton?

JoeDirt

No, but I'm sure that was pretty interesting.  Perhaps they'll replay it now...I'd like to see.

They needed a name to fill out that position. Anything like a "CBrown" has 6 letters and pays a little hommage to Charlie Brown aka "Strike 3!" :P

Is that aviator quote a reference to Kent Hrbek?

I'm hoping it is.
