Anyone ever do an RBI ROM with fictional teams from the movies?  I'm trying to think of movies where you kind of get an idea of the whole lineup

I would think you could do a ten team ROM.  You could have teams like:

Bad News Bears
Major League
Bull Durham
Bang the Drum Slowly
Good All Stars (Roy Hobbs, Mr Three Thousand, Mr Baseball, The Fan, etc)
Evil All Stars (all the arch nemesis guys)

I can't think of 4 other teams although you could do A League of their Own or maybe branch out into movies with real players like Eight Men Out and the Natural.

Someone should make this ROM.  I would, but I don't want to...and I'm lazy...and I'd probably fuck it up.

it sounds familiar like it's been talked about before.  i don't remember anyone doing it though.

I've thought about it, but it's hard to know who all the players were on some of those teams (if anyone knows the complete Indians line-up from Major League, or who the No. 2 starter was, please let me know).

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

i think the wild thing was #2, with harris being the veteran ace.  i don't think there were any other pitchers.  you might be able to get that info by watching the movie, i think uecker mentions the names of a couple other pitchers, and one or two are shown in montages and/or spring training.

You can always name the 'unknown' players yourself and just make sure to give them the mediocre stats.

The Chuunichi Dragons of Mr. Baseball fame would be a nice edition to league but would probably prove harder then Major League to get a 16 man roster with accurate names. I don't even think there 16 different players in Major League or Mr. Baseball.

Some of this depends on whether you want to count Major League 2... there was a mustachioed guy named "Shoup" who started Game 7 of their series against the White Sox, and you could maybe assume that he was also on the Indians in the original movie.  I'm pretty sure Wild Thing should be the #2 starter if you have Harris as the #1 - Wild Thing was only in the bullpen for emergency purposes, like Randy Johnson in Little Big League.

Other names:
Tomlinson in LF ("Tomlinson's gonna need a Visa to catch this one")
Dinello (sp?) at SS ("Dinello up with it, and that'll do it")
They guy who bats right before Hayes and is robbed of extra bases in the 9th inning of the playoff game, whose name escapes me right now (could also be Tomlinson, now that I think about it)

It seems like the Indians' lineup should be Hayes-Taylor-Dorn-Cerrano, but I don't think Cerrano batted until the 3rd inning of the playoff game, so I'm not sure how it was set up then.  They obviously didn't pay much attention to the lineup in the movie, since Heywood only batted once a game.

There were a lot of players mentioned in Little Big League... from memory and a quick scan of IMDB:
Scales - 2B
Collins - 1B
Bowers - RP
Gatlin - RP
Wedman - SP
Ritter - RF
McGrevey - SP
Kain - LF
Hodges - 3B
Johnson - Bench (although he gets cut in the movie)
Positions I can't remember: Hamilton, Alexander (played by Leon Durham), Hilbert

I think the the California Angels team from Naked Gun should be involved.....

And the Queen should be the closer with some nasty movement.

TβG

how about the california angels from "angels in the outfield"

...i know, band.

nice knowin you guys.

anyway, besides that movie there was also a movie in the early 80's about a girl playing on asu's baseball team, i think.  at least they were called the devils or whatever.  maybe i'll try to dig that up.

Can it be programmed so that the umpire does some sort of Frank Drebben/Enrico Palatzo dance on strike outs, then in the Top of the 7th, he just starts calling balls on every pitch.

I will supply funds for someone to do a Major League Movie with RBI. And if you're wondering what type of funds it would take, it would take coffee to stay up, food, and some alcohol.
Fernando Valenzuela can play every position, including the umpire, and does every night of the week, and nothing can stop him.

Posting so the douche's name above me doesn't appear on the main forum board as last poster on this board.
