1. Tim Raines LF... my fav leadoff guy, my fav speed guy, & he can knock a bunch out if my team's ahead in the game

2. Alan Trammell SS... he's probably the most balanced righty batter in my history, speed + pop is there, & he barely ever grounds out

3. George Bell CF... they have him in center... he's one of the biggest boppers in the game who's not off the bench, his homers are usually moon shots out of the screen

4. Andre Dawson RF... a near clone of Bell for me... moon shots, & 9 times out of 10 doesn't get cheated out of an at bat

5. Will Clark 1B... probably my fav batter in the game ever, maybe his spot deep in the 5 hole has made him feel like an underdog who knows- he's been better than any of Detroit's leftys & even Reggie for me

6. Wade Boggs 3B... not sure about anyone else, but for me he's always found the holes through the infield- one of the best at extra base hits down the line (over the bag- those near foul balls)

7. Matt Nokes C... go big or go home, this guy cranks the longball early & often- one of the best pull hitters for me ever

8. Lou Whittaker 2B... wow more lefties in this lineup than I would've thought, but 2B is either Lou or nobody- all the rest in the game get pinch hit for immediately... Lou is pretty good at keeping an inning alive also, I'm sure most of you know this


PH1. Mark McGwire... automatic HR, the biggest bat I've ever played with in the history of owning the game

PH2. Tim Burks... Ellis has to be the best all around player sitting on a bench

PH3. Dale Murphy... McGwire lite, & that's saying a lot

PH4. Kevin Seitzer... no idea how/why but he's always been a hot righty bat for me- not always a HR threat, but he very rarely wastes a ball grounding to the infield- a great batter to the foul lines & the outfield gaps


SP1. Jimmy Key... yep, he's my fav pitcher ever in the game- his curve is very good & stays alive deep into the game, he can throw the corner fastball as good as anyone, & his offspeed garbage ball is a beauty

SP2. Doyle Alexander... as you can tell, I have better luck with these guys than the flame throwers (they seem to stay stronger deeper into games)... Doyle's a mean s.o.b. in this game who can throw any pitch at any time always on the money

RP1. Jesse Orosco... like 2B, this spot in the RBI cupboard is pretty bare- he's a decent lefty though who can bridge the starters to the closer well enough

RP2. Tom Henke... for 1.5 innings or so, he's lights out, & with my lineup that's all that matters- then his stuff/movement falls off a cliff

1.  Lou Whittaker 2B... Gotta love sweet Lou.
2.  Jose Canseco CF... Need to have that power.
3.  Reggie Jackson LF...Best overall, ballanced hitter in the game.  My first pick.
4.  Andre Dawson RF... Possibly the best righty in the game.
5. DaEvans 1B... Most powerful lefty in the game.  Easy choice.
6. Schmidt 3B... Very close to Gaetti.  In Straight pitch I probably take Gaetti since he is a little faster.
7. Matt Nokes C... What other choice do I have?
8. Ripken SS... Ekes out tramel.  Have to go with more power.

SP1. Ryan.. my favorite pitcher in the game.  Great Fastball and great differential b/w fastball and curveball (best in the game).  Also, great stamina.  Simply, the best.

SP2. Blyleven... best stamina in the game to get you to the late innings.  Not the best speed but good movement.

RP1. Brnger... IMO, the best reliever in the game.  Man, can he throw some heat!

RP2. Hrnandez.  I have great success with him.

looking back through my old spreadsheet by fielding position data last night, there are a few players who have good cases to NOT be listed where they are.  i compiled the spreadsheet back in 2004 (i think) and we've actually never used it for fantasy, becuase exact fielding positions are a little cumbersome for fantasy league.  don baylor, for instance, has to be playing centerfield with the 1986 redsox because rice is in left and dwevns is in right.  well, baylor never played CF that year, he DH'd 143 games.  designated hitters don't start in RBI, so to get him in the lineup, the programmers jammed him in CF.  in 1986 he actually logged the most innings in the field at 1b (101 inn. -- 13 gms).  second after that is 24 innings in LF (3 gms).  in my spreadsheet, he is listed as a CF becuase that's what i did as a default for deciding position is where the player started for his team in the game.  as i said before, some players can arguably be put in other positions if someone went through the trouble of re-doing the spreadsheet.  it could be an interesting discussion.  especially when taking into account rbi years versus career stats.  here's baylor's career breakdown:

if i recall, there are very few players that are disputable as far as being in the infield or outfield, but john kruk was one.  when you get to individual fielding positions, i can see the conversation being a bit more dicey.
