RBI Players Who Never Were

here's a question that may have been posed earlier on the boards but i couldnt find it in a search:

Can we come up with one or two teams worth of guys that SHOULD have been on the game (NES) but never were?

this could be a possible rom taking the place of AM and NA if we get enought players.

post your ideas and maybe a little bit of evidence to back it up.  let's see if maybe we can  right a few wrongs.

Do you mean players who should've made the All-Star teams, or players who should've been on the teams that are already in the game?  Or perhaps teams that were good those years but didn't make the playoffs?

For players on teams already in the game, a good way to look for them is to grab a copy of RBI 3 and start a game using one of the original RBI teams - RBI 3 has division winners from '83-'89, so the original teams are there, complete with 24-man rosters (14 hitters, 10 pitchers).  Some of the players were no longer in the MLBPA, so their names were changed to their initials and position (Roy Smalley is "RS Second", I think), but it's usually possible to tell who they are if you're familiar with the team in the first place.

Well, as far as who got left behind on teams, I think it's pretty common that Walt Terrell is the one who got left behind (Det...won 17 games in '87).  But I would have rather seen Frank Tanana on the squad, 'cause he's a lefty (won 15 games, btw)...

I also think Eric King sucks on RBI and sucked in real life.  I believe that Mike Hennaman should have his RBI roster spot...he had a much bett '87 season and much better career stats...

Also, I do believe that Pat Sheridan was the 3rd OF starter on the '87 team--not Herndon.  So I wish he was in the line up ('cause he's better on the game, too).

I think we'll find that most players left off are going to be pitchers, since they gave each team only 2 SP and 2 RP...

But, why the F they chose Corbett and Moore over John Candelaria is beyond me.  Candelaria is a lefty and was a side armer--and I believe he was pretty good in 1987.  Imagine of the RBI Angels had Orosco on their staff--that's what John Candelaria would be like.

I think he did start some, but he definitely relieved a lot, too!

I really wish Walt Terrell was on the game.  That guy kicks ass.  He was in my fraternity at MSU and I drank some Falls City beer with him a couple years ago at homecoming.

Hubie Brooks clearly should have been the NL all-star SS.

as far as NL shortstops go maybe brooks would have been the best that year, although larkin and dunston were pretty close.

is there a breakdown on this site of all the all-star teams and what teams they were on?   is there a team that's not represented in the all-stars?  i think they're all on there, that's how they pedriqued the game up.

Ozzie was the starting SS and Hubie was the backup, no one knows why they chose Al over Hubie.

now that i look at the actual stats for outfielders on mlb.com it looks like maybe only robin yount and danny tartabull got the shaft there.  ruben sierra and larry sheets are pretty close too.
