this year, it's all about chemistry and having quality guys on the team.  To hell with talent and power.  Lenny Dykstra may go in the 1st round this year.

and if the cutoff is 134 speed, we'll have 34 (roughly 1/4th) of the batters with the ability to steal in watch mode.  This would help some of the bottom-tier power guys have another dimension of importance to the lineup.

hmmm, I'll ponder this TBG. I don't think it will happen considering that I am a purest in that sense, but if it were to happen, the players with a power rating of under 800 would get their speed ratings adjusted from a pretend world point of view.

The hack wouldn't be ready for this season, but might be something to consider next time around.  All that it would be is a "rule" in the baserunning engine to allow players of whatever speed we set (I say >=140 or >=134) to be eligible for stealing second base.  Right now, it's only Colman, Raines, Lopes, and OSmith.

I'm pretty much a purist too, so this wouldn't have anything to do with "juice" or adjusting ratings at all, it's just an adjustment to a rule thereby increasing the importance of the worthless players at the bottom of the heep.

I talked to Tecmoturd via chat (this hack would be a ways a way) and since he and his friend are breaking down the entire ROM, I thought I'd just thrown this out there as we look toward the future.  There will be so may options, by next year, i'm guessing, that I'm sure more hacks than this will need to be discussed for next fantasy season.  I'm not sure how long everyone will be satisfied with the original if switch hitting and DH and more are available.

Also, in related news, Marty Barrett! He was a bottom tier player who finished the year 2nd in triples and had some big games for the Empire.

Yeah, a few things need to happen for this to be hacked by me.  1, I need to get that documented code from my guy...2, I need to teach myself 6502 assembly, so don't expect it anytime soon.

I will keep you posted, my friends.  In the meantime, good luck with the league, I think it's an awesome thing, and very fun to watch.

It's real easy to do in Nightwulf's editor. All that needs to be done is simply change some parameters, save the ROM, and it's all set.

Perhaps I'll can come up with some kind of proposal and the owners can vote on this to make this a reality and then we can iron out the framework. The idea of juicing the speed attributes of some players who have a power rating of under 800 (and with shitty contact ratings) would indeed add an interesting dimension to the draft and league.

How about an across-the-board bump?  Sims some games to see what happens.

It's going to have an effect.  more doubles / triples etc.  Offense will be up, that's for sure.
