Errors, stolen bases, hits allowed per game...the Rays have 28 stolen bases over 6 games.  Wowzers...

The crazy thing is, theres almost nothing you can do about the steals. I finally picked him off once and fired to first, but he was running on first move so he STILL beat the throw from 1st to 2nd. So much pressure to make plays on defense, flub one chance and you pay for it because hes ALWAYS in scoring position.

But, my idiots can't hit with a guy at 2nd base so I strand most of them!

There's supposedly some tricks for throwing out stealing runners.

Here's what Gantry says on Dee-Nee.com

QuoteWhat's the best way to throw out a base stealer?

I often hear people talking about how teams like St. Louis are really fast and you should be consistently stealing bases with them. Hogwash... If you know how to handle baserunners, only a select few players (Coleman, Raines and Lopes) can steal a base on you, and even then only a small percentage of the time. Instructions by base:

Second Base - This is the most difficult base to throw out runners, but you still should get 90-95% of them out. The key to nabbing a runner at second is to press down and A at the exact same time with the catcher. Yes, this means you should be throwing home with your catcher. If you do this the ball rolls all the way to second and you'll get them out virtually everytime. Be sure to move your pitcher out of the way after you throw.
Third Base - No baserunner should ever be able to steal third, though it may be possible if your pitcher is throwing in the 20s. Throwing to third is the same as a throw in the field - press left and A at the exact same time. Nothing fancy here, just throw like you normally would...
Home Plate - It does seem silly, but you can give up the stolen base at home if you don't know what you are doing (Potsie can attest to this). When a runner steals home, your catcher is a few feet behind the plate. If you don't press down and B to move your catcher to the plate, the baserunner will score. Many people run to third, but if you wait too long or the runner is really fast, the catcher runs right past the baserunner. Run home, plain and simple...
If you follow these simple instructions, all your stolen base woes will be cured. Be sure and test the newbies by stealing home on them. Many of them will end up running to second and, when realizing they fucked up, throw to the empty space at home. I love it when that happens...

anyone ever notice that if you drop a deuce on someones windshield in sub-freezing temperatures, its pretty damn hard to get off once it freezes.

Turd

Use the throw home technique all the time. Doesn't work on the really fast guys.

Re-Peat

Part of the the technique is throwing home, but the other part is properly executing the fast throw by hitting the d-pad and the throw button at the same time.

Pair those up and only the fastest of the fast will be able to steal.  With 28 SBs in 6 games, there's no way all of those came from Coleman and Raines...

In the original ROM, Vince Coleman had a 148 speed rating. Tim Raines, 146. Ozzie Smith 144.

The villains we're talking about are,

Figgins, Fowler, Crawford

Respective speed ratings of 148, 144, 148

So two 'Vince Colemans, and one Ozzie Smith' on this team.

Anyway, play the man and throw him out. I managed to do it once or twice, but he swiped 11 bases off me in two games lol. 11/13 aint bad.

I didn't realize you were playing with one of Turd's beefed up ROMs.

How many jacks does Pujols have?

We're not playing a beefed up ROM, it's a 2010 ROM.  100% lean grade A top choice meat.  My only regret with how I rated Pujols was giving him too low of a contact rating.  His power is right on par with what it should be...he's an Andre Dawson in that regard.

Regardless, Pujols is not in the game, we only took players from the 10 teams in the league...

You may smell many, many unsavory things coming from my direction but none of them is jealousy.
