Steal probability and speed threshold

I have some info back from the man...

in hex, x2126 (same spot in 30 team ROM as well as 10 team), that's the minimum speed you need for the CPU to steal.

This value by default is 144 (90 in hex).  So, we can adjust this number lower to adjust the minimum speed a CPU baserunner needs to steal a base.

For the record, he said that basically the formula says:

if speed >= 144 and the generated random number matches some criteria (50% chance), the player will steal.  So, anyone over 143 has a 50% chance of stealing second.

My point was that this little cute project wasn't groundbreaking. There are 4 guys in the game who'll steal bases in watch mode. Parameters weren't needed to tell us that, but it was good to confirm this.

I just tried this out setting it to 120. Worked great.  Guys were attempting steals left and right...

This should say there is a 50% chance they attempt to steal 2nd.  And it is interesting that it doesn't matter if it is 144 or 148 still 50%.  For Watch season we should lower to 140.  I don't think CPU ever has a caught stealing.

Correct, if their speed is 144 or higher, there is a 50% chance they'll take off running for second base.  If they are less than 144, they won't even attempt it. 

It'd be real easy to play around with the numbers to determine a good minimum threshold...

As you wish. The FRBI league does not conform or reform to your "needs", or anyone else's. The game is preserved as it's meant to be (nothing has changed since Fighton was the commissioner). The brand name is established, unlike the other cute and failed projects that have come and gone. The FRBI league is the most prestigious fantasy league in existence on the internet---bar none. Your presence is not needed, and your spot will be replaced in a heartbeat.

I hereby permanently ban you from the FRBI League on the basis of your disrespect to the sacred trademark and force that holds this forum together. You may watch and follow the league at your liberty. Enjoy the bratwurst while watching the games.  

And let it be known that the upcoming draft will be conducted as it always has. There will be no changes---such as keepers or any erroneous ideas. thanks for looking into that and developing a hack.  i haven't looked back in the league thread to see the discussion, but i think 140 was a good competitive number for the amount of players that were available at that speed.  i think it was 11 or 12 guys.

I should have known itd be a waste of time when right off the bat my team was disallowed from having a name with poop in it because someone elses team already referenced poop.
