Thanks for the bump ultimate.  I can't believe it either.  I'm only 23, and I remember seeing almost all of these guys play.  Guys like Pettis make sense, since most of us would have never heard of them without rbi, but Andre Dawson and Kirby Puckett?  Amazing.

yeah, but I am not sure they are accurate for the NES version, I really don't think that Gladden is faster than Gibson in the NES version, maybe he is faster in a 100 yard dash, but I really think that Gibson is a better baserunner, and it shows when stealing bases

The ROM which the stats are grabbed from is the NES version.  They are one and the same.

I believe you, i'm just not buying it.  I feel like Gladden gets hosed when running the bases whereas Gibson takes second easily.....maybe opponents focus more on the leadoff hitter than the #2 hitter???

I once heard that Jack Morris was the fastest man on the '84(I think that was the year) Tigers.

He was used as a pinch runner quite a bit, as can be inferred from his record at baseball-reference.  A bunch of runs scored, with no at-bats or anything to go along with them.

I personally followed baseball around the time of RBI, so I knew who most of the players were.  I think I always assumed Rupperto was white until I researched his legend page though, only guy I can think of...

I also thought Mr. Jones was a cracker
