Believe me, that was really tough to do.  I had to use pink for a few times but I think it still works...the only one I'm not happy with is the Marlins, but I can't think of a better combination.

I do have a hack where you set everyone to a grey jersey and then it automatically makes the home team's jersey white...I don't included it here though because it's only really important for 2P games, as 1P the user is always the away team.

Team data for LOS ANGELES:
No Name   R/L   Avg  HR Cnt Power Speed Type
  =============================================
  01 Trout  RHB  .325  30  12   878   144   N
  02 Aybar  RHB  .290   8  17   766   135   N
  03 Pujols RHB  .285  30  18   878   124   N
  04 Hmlton LHB  .284  43  18   944   126   N
  05 Trumbo RHB  .268  32  21   888   125   N
  06 Kndrck RHB  .287   8  18   766   130   N
  07 Claspo RHB  .251  10  23   776   122   N
  08 Ianeta RHB  .239   9  25   771   122   N

1-5 on that team is nasty, except for Aybar, but he is pretty fast, so that helps...

P.S. If we get enough guys, we could do another "Online Championship Series Tournament."

Shit, just realized I need to make my roster exporter export whether they are switch hitters or not...

VEGAS

Lester was a piece of shit in 2012, but I mostly blame his work out regime aka: beckett's plan of "chicken & beer". I see 2012 as an abberation so when I look at 3-year average with something like fangraphs (http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=4930&position=P), I see a more accurate representation of what he should be doing. And his numbers for 2013, so far, seem to play out that way. That was my only issue. Of course I'm cherry picking, but fuck it, I'm an admitted homer for the BoSox.

Thanks for the review, Vegas! Looking at the numbers, Lester is a 5/5 guy for curve left/curve right, with a 92MPH fastball and standard 40 for stamina.  5/5 is not good at all...he boasted a 4.82 ERA last year and a 7.3 K/9...5 for opposite handed curve isn't bad, and pretty standard, but with that 5 for his dominant (left) curve is killing him.

As for Clay, he's a 8/5 (I always list dominant hand first) guy with a 92 FB and slightly higher normal speed.  8/5 is pretty close to average or slightly better...

My pitcher curve ratings stay pretty true to the original constraints of the game.

Saltalfdka;sfjdasia has an 853 power rating which gives him a 917 in his first AB off the bench, so yeah, he's going to be a boomer, and a nice fill-in should you decide to start him...

Thanks again for the feedback.  I get more satisfaction out of doing a ROM when I hear people talk about it...often I go searching for blogs that mention it...the buzz is not as high this year as it was...
And BOOM goes the Dynamite!

Turd

Totally understand. One thing I do with my ROMs is make them represent a single year in time unless I have to adjust. I do think about tweaking my formula to use a a 3 year avg. well see.

I got a game of 2 player in against a guy who isn't good.  Prince Fielder hit my 1st home run and what was a close game through 6  innings which turned into a 10 run slaughter rule in my favor.  Everything played smooth and great.

I'm going to be heading out to Nate's tomorrow, so I'll get to play a little more of the 2013 version.  Then my buddy Curtis will be around for a few days, so I'll get more games in Sunday and Monday.  Those 2 are stoked beyond imagination about getting to play this.

The little bit i played against the computer left me feeling they are a little too fast on defense.  As mentioned a few posts up, that a sure fire double turned into a single.  I put one down into the LF corner by what would be the bullpen at Wrigley but could only get a single.   This is just a super minor gripe really, and I assume if they aren;t super fast in the outfield they probably still suck on grounders in the infield.   However playing the normal version of the computer is boring as hell.  This is really challenging for a change, and will make RBI far more valuable in 1 player mode.

Anyways, STELLAR work here and I urge everyone out there to at least get the rom and play it, if not the actual cart version of this.  The packaging of that box is really amazing.

Brad, that level of juice is just want I have found is MY sweet spot after testing a lot of different combinations.  I have the ability to tone down both the running speed and the throwing speed, but in my play-testing, this level of juice gives me still some opportunities to get doubles and the very rare triple in some cases, and I found that to be a good mix.  The only gripe I have with this level is that if you venture too far off the base, the fielder will super speed down the baseline to catch you, but it never really comes up.

I also have the ability to nerf the human player's curve and pitch speed, as well as boost the CPU team's power/speed/contact by a fixed amount per category, but I found that it takes away from the ratings I worked so hard on because the players lose their identity and become overpowered robots.  My juiced version seemed a good mix and provided enough challenge.

That said, if you want to play around with different juice values, let me know.  Either way, making single player RBI challenging was a huge win for the updated ROM, IMHO, and makes it so you can actually try to play a full season...

Thanks much for the reviews and nice comments, I'm pretty damn happy with this year's release.

TbT

If toning it down makes the computer easy to beat again, then its not a good idea.  Nate played the CPU and was in a close game through 4 innings then called it a day as he just wanted to see the Cubs for a few innings.  Finding out that the CPU juiced is quite the challenge.

In 2 player games, I had Detroit and Nate had Arizona.  Detroit won a pretty lopsided game.  From there Nate took Cal, and I had Philly.  Cal's bats went crazy as he won by a good 5 runs or so.

We recorded our games onto DVD.  I need to perhaps make an intro about the cart/2013 version, then show the highlites.

Ultimate, cool that you got your kids to play.  I love it...Brad, that would be awesome if you did something like that...

Best of 3 with a friend last night.  I had Detroit.  He had Rangers.  1st game was 4-0 Detroit.  A couple 2 run shots.  I don't know what Verlander's ratings are, but that guy gets it done.  He doesn't have anything stupid in terms of absurd curve or whatever, but he's just really solid.  Im not sure he's Bob ojeda quality, but he defintely seems to libve up to his real life counterpart.

Darvish of the Rangers apears to have the minimum stamina for a starter.

Rangers took game 2 like 4-1.  In game 3 we went scoreless into the bottom of the 9th and I think it was Cabrerra that went yard with a couple outs.  It was a bomb to the left field parking lot.  Somebody got a baseball through their windshield.

I am the absolute worst ever at remembering who hits the walk off, or knocks in the game winning run.

Turd can you link me to the player ratings?  I need to get those printed off and start making heads or tails of this version.

Never mind, I found the thread!  Sometimes you just have to open your good eye.

Played about 3 hours on Saturday night with some old college buddies.  It was awesome.  A few comments:

On the original we play a lot of NL vs AL games, so we are used to more homers

Had more pitcher duels on the new version

A lot of the games went extra innings

Love how both players can call time

Friedman on OAK had no stats

A bench player on SD had no stats

It brought a lot of joy to me and my buds, so thanks again

Turd

Glad to hear it...I just checked the ROM, Frieman is a rookie this year, so he had no previous year's stats, so that's why he's 0...as for the Dads, I don't see anyone on the team with no stats, but that said, it was probably a different team, and probably the same deal with a rookie...

I thought I had a good balance of baseball with these ratings...my games were all realistic scores, 5-3, 3-1, etc.  On my arcade, I won a game vs. a friend 16-5, but that's a little tougher to field on.

Not a bad line!

Darvish is the standard 40, so if you compared to Verlander who's a 50, he probably did seem to tire first...

Brad, I just looked, and Ojeda has the same curve rating as Verlandr...pretty cool it worked out that way...

Turd

I think next round of ratings, I might single out a few guys and give them Tudor-esque ratings...under my rating system, they probably won't ever reach those levels, but the CY Young winners and maybe a few others deserve to be bumped to that level of skill...
