Who's your favorite MLB player? For which team(s)? And, why?

Bassfunk

I'll start this party:

Robin Yount.
Milwaukee Brewers.
Because he stayed with a failry mediocre team his entire career. Plus his lemonade and limeade drinks are amazing! Robinade! Seriously: http://www.robinade.org/

BeefMaster

I have never heard of Robinade... quality find.

While I am (and have been) a Twins fan, I really started following baseball through WGN broadcasts in the late 80s, and as a result Ryne Sandberg has always been my all-time favorite baseball player.  Favorite current players include Ben Revere, Glen Perkins, and Pat Neshek.

Don't have a current player, but Jose Canseco for a long time in my childhood.  Not so much anymore

TempoGL

Childhood favorites:

Carlton Fisk
Frank Thomas
Nolan Ryan
Rickey Henderson

I don't really have a favorite anymore.  It used to be Brian Anderson when he was on the White Sox, but that was probably the last time I really had a favorite.

I wish.  I even did a school project on him about someone I admire

Metal King

Well as a young man I'd have to say the big mashers (Fielder, Canseco, McGwire), and of course I'm a Tigers fan, so Whitaker and Trammell.

For some reason, even though I never watched him, Dave Parker.  He got hurt alot too, hurt his chances for 3000 Hits.  I bought tons of his cards off Ebay, have every regular issue Topps of his.

Favorite current players:

Miguel Cabrera
Albert Pujols
Mark Teixeira
Mike Trout
Justin Verlander

How does something like this happen?  Dropped on your head as a child?

BDawk

He must have had a big game right before that project.  He did have one kick ass season with the Phils

1983

That was a pretty solid year, though you are still dumb

BDawk

I agree with most of what you said there...

Batter: Donnie Baseball
Pitcher: Doc Gooden

Sad that they never will make HOF for what they did for those 6 seasons straight. Both from 1984 to 1989. Docs best season was Cy Young year in 1985 where he went 24-4 with and Era of 1.53, 16 complete games, 8 shutouts, 276 innings pitched and 268 K's. Donnie had some outstanding seasons between 84 to 87.
