Fantasy RBI League Official Draft Thread

OK, I'm heading off to lunch right now. If he hasn't made a pick in one hour from now (12:30 p.m. Pacific time), I'm considering GreatScott to be skipped. It was made clear that we would be drafting on Monday (today), and I read a quote from him that basically, we should just start skipping people and it wasn't the end of the world if you get skipped a couple of times.

So, I'll take his word for it. Still, he's got one hour to get a pick or proxy picks to me.

I'm not sure that is fair, I don't think we ever really set a time in stone.  We gave poolstroke 4 days, and now GreatScott missed for 2 hours and we screw him?  I'd say wait a little longer.  Hopefully he shows up soon.

I don't understand it either.  I would have grabbed him in round 2 or 3 if I was drafting, but I would have also picked Potatoes, but I was handicapped by poolstroke's picks.

Big difference in this draft, JoeDirt - we're not going with individual positions; instead, we're just requiring 4 IFs and 3 OFs.  Trammel's relatively average power makes guys like Hrbek, Gaetti, and Decinces better picks, since you don't need a shortstop.  I'm kinda pissed at myself for picking Glenn Davis over him a round ago, though; the speed probably makes up for the 30-point power difference.

Since we all agreed to get this on track on Monday, and with the quote above, I think GreatScott would agree to move on without him until he gets here.

We're actually skipping his picks and not doing a "best player available" type of thing for him?  When will he get those picks back?

This is tricky. Quick advice - if you were him, would you rather that we take the best players available for him, or skip him, and he would get his picks back whenever he shows back up (which could mean that his 5th and 6th picks may get pushed back for several rounds)?

I think if I were him I would just want best available but who knows.

It's gotta be best available. Let's say we bang out the rest of the draft today (not going to happen I'm sure, but you never know) and he isn't here at all.  We will have picked pretty much every player and he'll fill the rest of his roster, about 10 guys with the dregs of RBI.  Doesn't seem right.

The other issue is that TeddyBallGame only gave me proxy selections for those two picks, so we're going to run into a roadblock once we snake back to him again...



I can't say enough about proxy picks - trust me, I will not compromise the integrity of the draft as commissioner by having these picks.

I'll wait a little while longer, then we'll make a decision.

I vote that if they're not here, and even if proxies were not sent it, we get them the best available player, non-pitcher.
