Gantry

I got a better chance of beating Drago in a boxing match than Foster in RBI curve...

Foster won't make it out of the 2nd round.

Gantry

Fuck you're Matt Watt?  So if I do pull off a miracle I have to beat you or some noname who would obviously be very good if he beat you....

This is going to seriously cut down on my training time...

The bracket, filled in for the first round, just to make it easier visually...

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Nice how McLane and I got the first game first thing Saturday morning. I think this one's going to come down to who is less hung over from Friday night.

Question: Which "half" of the bracket is more difficult, the top or the bottom? The top side seems to have more known quality players (Foster, GDavis, Riley), but also has several Dee-Neers not getting much respect in the early betting lines (me, fknmclane, Gantry, CurtFlood). On the other hand, the bottom draw has a lot more unknown players, which is potentially a good thing (if they aren't very good) or a really bad thing (if they are good enough to back up paying straight cash to enter a tournament without knowing anyone).

Atezz, Bandur and Beales is a tough group in the bottom four...  Probably all depends on how good the dee-nee'ers really are.  Are we as shitty as we think we are?

I have to start playing curve relatively soon, my over/under strikeouts for the first two games is 48...

Fuck you're Matt Watt?

Once I tried to sign up for some online contest at espn.com with the username MattWatt, but they wouldn't let me use that name because it contained the word "twat".

I think it's hilarious that Mcclane and USC have to play at 10AM which will be like 7AM their time, good luck.

Maybe you guys should just play the night before.

The Raiders are a successful organization

Nacho

Since the brackets are officially out, we should see if there is any way to start a Yahoo Fantasy Sports league to see who can pick the best bracket.

JoeDirt

It's official--from this day on, I will always think of GDavis as "Mat Twat."  Good stuff!

Great idea, Nacho!!

Fighton...you're right.  The bracket plays out just like a normal bracket would (like an NCAA bracket)...the winner of you/mclane plays the winner of Riley/Flood...the two losers of those games drop down to spots 1 and 2 of the loser's bracket, respectively...

The dee nee tard mixed in with gantry looks a little bit like TBT

Did you flip anything to avoid the possible immediate rematches?

looks like fighton used bracket maker......i believe they can do something like that to rearrange shit for the losers, so if there was a rematch it wouldnt be till quite a ways down the road.

I always preferred the nickname Matt "Hot" Watt, but could never get it to stick.

My take on the first round games:

Game #1: Mark McLane (fknmclane) vs. Richard Manfredi (fightonusc)

Of course, I'm going to win this one. Seriously, it should be an interesting contest. I am an ATG only player, and I think that experience in pitching and hitting against that style of play is going to be the difference here. Has anyone here played against fknmclane in real life. Baines? Is Chubbs still on a Barry Dingle-forced exile?

Game #2: Mike Riley (mfriley33) vs. AT(CurtFlood)

There's always a chance that Emilio threatens Riley with his steely gaze to the point that he abandons the game. Other than that, I think Riley's the choice here. Unless, of course, the Flood family gets involved, a la a Heenan Family run-in attacking Hulk Hogan. Then all bets are off...

Game #3: Josh Payne vs. Matt Watt (GDavis)

It would be cooler if GDavis' first name was Mike, because then I could pretend that he's actually former Minutemen bass player Mike Watt. He isn't, but Mr. New York RBI Champion has enough to take out the newbie. Go with Twat Power!

Game #4: Colin Foster vs. Gantry Zettler (Gantry)

Rumor has it that Gantry is planning on not washing from now until the tournament in the hopes of creating such a funk field that Foster is unable to play. This, I think, is Gantry's only hope.

Game #5: Trevor Martin vs. Joe Cordiano (JoeDirt)

Will the pressure of running a tournament make Joe crack? Not in this game, as he takes out Trevor to advance to the second round.

Game #6: Steve Katz vs. Mike Hartford (malnuboy)

Who knows? I'll take Katz because that's the name of Bill Bryson's annoying friend from "A Walk In The Woods". Plus, how could you go with Hartford? The Whale have been extinct for at least 10 years. Plus, malnuboy's mask will probably impede his playing abilities. Also, if MikeD and rdub show up, malnuboy will be so knee deep in hookers he'll be way too busy to play.

Game #7: Rob Conzelman vs. Jeff Bandur (DXXPAC321)

There's going to be an upset in the first round, so it might as well be here. I say the unknown factor plays to Conzelman's advanatage, and Bandur slinks off to the losers' bracket.

Game #8: Mike Beales (SmokedUBad) vs. Mark Labozzetta (Attezzobal)

This is a rare match-up in the first round of two players expected to have some game. It will be close, but in the end Attezzobal will be too distracted trying to find out who MrOrangeJuice21 is to "give him a piece of business" to win this game.

Actually, I just filled in the blanks from the blank bracket on the tournament Web site. You'll have to ask Joe how he set it up...

I don't think you are in that group of 4, but anyway how bout that JoeDirt, I hear he's pretty good, maybe he'll break through the bracket and play in a group he's not even assigned to.
