My RBI Retro (Formerly  the poorly named 'Year One') project main team list is here.  After a few nights of thinking, I have decided to change the last two teams.  First off, I have decided to remove the Indianapolis Hoosiers and pick a more palatable team for you guys: the 1908 Chicago Cubs.  As for the last team, I am at a loss.  I kind of want Montréal, but they've never really been good.  Except for the Expos, the year is either the first or last time the team won the World Series (or their leauge, In case of the Whales.)

So, I shall let the Dee-Nee crowd decide the last team, for it is you guys I am really making it for.

(EDIT: If you want to compare stats, remember Baseball Reference)

In '94, the Expos had the best record in the Major Leagues at the time of the strike.  They also made the playoffs in '81, I think (the strike year).

That's not all that long ago, compared to your other teams, though.

I voted for the 1917 White Sox because many historians think that they were one of the best teams of all time. My only question is, how good will their stats be in RBI since they played in the "dead ball" era?

Wow.. one day of the poll, and I see a pattern already...  I assumed the Dee-Nee faithful had a Chi-Town bias, but didn't expect such favor for the Sox (by the way, I'm the one who voted for the Whales :P I like obscurity.)  I'll let this run about another week (until 12/10/04), then decide.  Remember, YOUR vote counts (on Dee-Nee, at least  ;D)!

Just a friendly neighborhood bump so that people getting back (and getting sober) from the weekend.  Only three days left in the voting!  And whomever else voted for the Whales, please PM me...  I wanna see how crazy you really are. :P

Holy shit.  Really?  I'll eat my own poo if you dare me.  I'm typing through the zipper of my pants right now -- so many people are staring.

ShitPaw!  I might not be a very aactive member, but I must say this: Get an account again, you maginificent man-raping  drunken bastard you!

I like this better.  I do believe my presence in the Guest arena will cut back on the pranking.

Felonious Gunk

All right... this isn't smelling too kosher... THREE votes for the Whales?  Methinks someone's trying to rig the vote... ???  I figured the Federal Leauge'd be too obscure.

I'm guessing people just like the Whales nickname.  I however voted for the Braves.

Wait... I know who voted for them...  I was talking to a friend (who I'm trying to get to sign up FINALLY signed up [Garland], but hasn't posted yet.) and showed him this thread.  He WOULD vote for the obscure just to give me fits.  (besides, I'm recanting my own vote in the final counts.) Disregard my ramblings. :P

I voted for Montreal for reasons I can't explain
What do you got there, the 4 volt? I did you a favor.

Felonious Gunk

All right, Dee-Neeites, there's 24 hours left in the poll!  The Sox seem to be in the lead at the moment...  Let's see if your team wins!   :D

Also, on a side note, does anyone want to convert the real-life stats into RBI numbers?  I'm getting low on time and I REALLY want to get this project made.  Any takers?  (PM me if you want to help the cause!)

I know it's a few hours early, but I'm closing the poll.  And it looks like the Sox have it!  I think it works out better this way, too.  AL replaced by an AL team, same with the NL.

And you'll notice I changed my name.  I've used G-Funk for a few years now, and I grew tired of it.  I came up with this a while back and like it.

...and here is the Alpha version of RBI Retro.  All I've done so far is change the names of players and teams, and changed the colors.  (Someone let me know if the Mets are PURPLE on your screens...  I think my monitor is fucking up...) Now to crack down on the stats.  (FINAL Version will include a roster sheet.  For now, use Baseball Reference to get your team info.)

cafetero

I remember reading somewhere that one or two teams from the Federal League purchased franchises from the AL or NL, after the "peace treaty" of 1915. Is that true? If so, which teams were?

Thanks in advance.

Felonious Gunk

On a quick scan of Baaseball-Reference.com, I see nothing to that end. Sorry ;)

Probably not your monitor. The NES palette doesn't define colors in RGB constants like pretty much everything does nowadays. Instead, they're defined as different constants among the colors that can be produced via NTSC signals. There's no way to get the exact specific color that the NES outputs (without hefty hardware), so people have come up with close approximations.

It's likely that the palette I used in making images for the editor is different than the one that your emulator is using. Are you using FCEU? I imagine most here are. I probably should recreate my images using their palette ...

Yeah, I'm using FCEU nowadays.  Started with NESten, then decided to go with what seemed to be the de facto emulator.

And I'm also surprised nobody's got on me for my surprise in the thread :P

*Edit: Wow... 200 posts and I FINALLY use a big phrase like de facto...  I'm so proud :'(*

Well, I dug through fceu's source and found their palette, recreated your Mets colors using their palette, and placed the results side-by-side. I'm seeing both as "purple" (though fceu's is a bit darker).
