Game Summary:

Andre Dawson certainly did not hurt his MVP chances with a two home run performance against The Poopydicks and their MVP candidate Ruppert Jones. But The Nimrods' 16-12 victory on Thursday was about getting offensive contributions from multiple players and holding on despite some awful defense.

Jeffrey Leonard, Tom Brunansky and Gary Gaetti each homered twice for The Nimrods (8-3), who remained tied for the league lead with The Stiffs. The Nimrods won despite committing five errors during the game. Bert Blyleven picked up the win against his former team by scattering three earned runs over 4 2/3 innings.

The Poopydicks (4-7) dropped their fourth straight thanks in large part to a lack of power or timely hitting. They stranded 11 runners and hit into a pair of double plays, while managing only one home run - a solo shot by Chet Lemon to lead off the ninth inning. Jones hit three doubles and scored two runs.

Two questions concerning these games:

1. I remember reading a few months ago on this forum that each team has it's own setting for how often BOP's would occur.  Have these settings been modified in this ROM to "level the playing field"?  Or was the setting left alone, and each team inherits the original RBI team's setting?

2. How do you get to watch mode while using an emulator, and which emulator are you using?  I've used both FCE Ultra and Nesticle, and neither seem to allow you to use the watch mode.

I haven't had a problem on FCEU doing watch mode, just select down to WATCH.

As far as BOP settings I believe they are supposed to be set the same for every team, but apparently no one told this to my team.

1.  thread link
I'm not sure how they did it to start the season though

2. Every rbi rom I've ever seen had the watch on the title screen under the 1 or 2 player options.

For some reason it's stuck on 1 Player for me, and won't advance to 2 Player or Watch.  Oh well.

It is not the down key, you have to use the "select" button whatever it is set at for your emulator.

When the season started, the RBI Editor didn't have a way to modify the BOP-level. Once nightwulf did that, I updated the ROMs to level out the BOPs to what should be an average number (keep in mind that errant throws happen quite often in Watch Mode and count as errors).

I've been using VirtuNES for the games, just because they have the best way to record AVIs of the game (I had been using nnesterj, but once I downloaded Windows Media 9, it started having all sorts of problems).

You need to go into the menu and change your keyboard control settings to add a button to act as the "Select" button to get to 2p or Watch mode.

Aaahhh.... you had mentioned select in your previous post and I didn't pick up on it.  Thanks Ultimate.

You know, back in the day, every NES game required you to use "Select" to select things in menus, rather than using the d-pad.  Eventually, game developers realized that this was a generally dumb idea, and "Select" became a pretty useless button.  It's used for bunting in RBI 2 and 3.

Game Summary:

BeefMaster used a strong start by Jimmy Key and some clutch hitting to surge past Da ShitPaws 15-11 on Friday night at Tengen Stadium and create a three-team logjam for third place in the Fantasy RBI Baseball League.

BeefMaster fourth straight victory moved them into a tie with Da ShitPaws and The OC at 6-5 with three games remaining. The top four teams will advance to the playoffs.

Both teams had solid starting pitching efforts, although neither starter figured in the decision. Key gave up three earned runs on five hits over 4 1/3 innings, while Bret Saberhagen give up five hits and two earned runs over the same time frame for Da ShitPaws.

George Brett homered twice and drove in three to pace the BeefMaster offense.

Cross my mind when I wrote it, it did, but decide to change it I did not.

Hard to write, this is.
