Four weeks left to go in the regular season, and the four playoff spots are still up for grabs. Certainly, this is what Fantasy RBI Baseball fans live for.

A commissioner's note: I'm setting next Monday as the trade deadline. If you want to make a trade, it has to take place and get to me on or before Monday at noon Pacific. Now, after that time, you can cut players and make free agent acquisitions up until the start of the playoffs, but you can't make any trades...

The first game is Creamy Pirates @ Stiffs, and I'll be simulating that shortly.

Game Summary:

The Creamy Pirates' pitching staff held The Stiffs in check for four of the six innings in their Fantasy RBI League game on Monday at Tengen Stadium. It was those other two innings that killed them. The Stiffs used innings of seven and ten runs to roll to a decisive 19-9 victory and remain in first place with three games remaining in the regular season.

Kent Hrbek continued his recent hot hitting with three home runs and six RBI for The Stiffs (8-3). while Brian Downing added four RBI. The Stiffs won despite hitting into three double plays in six innings.

The Creamy Pirates (3-8) dropped their sixth straight despite two home runs from Tom Brookens and a good effort from Vince Coleman, a surprise starter in the leadoff spot. They climbed back to tie the score at 9-9 after the top of the sixth, only to see The Stiffs score ten runs to end the game.

I think Hrbek is making his case for MVP.  Will there be a vote on cy young and mvp at years end?

fightonusc

Absolutely there will be, probably before the playoffs start (so we don't get the postseason stats mixed together).

My own personal MVP voting today would look like this:

1. Andre Dawson (U7)
2. Kent Hrbek (St)
3. Ruppert Jones (Pd)

Hawk is going to need a pretty big game to keep pace with Hrbek's performance today.
Both these guys are making a run at the triple crown.  I think its going to be a tight vote if these two RBI studs keep a it.

Any chance of a fireman award for the 'best' reliever?

you've gotta love the lost art of pitching and defense.  one-two-three innings are your friend.

When we drafted, we just separated the players into infielders, outfielders, and catchers, rather than going position-by-position.  Our only rule is that you have to start 3 OF, 4 IF, and a C - it gave us a little more flexibility in our starting lineups, and it also made it easier to start guys who were originally bench players (it'd be more of a pain to assign them individual positions than it was to just make them IFs, OFs, or Cs).

And the scoring software I use requires that you give each player a position. So, if you have three starting IFs who would normally first baseman, you're going to wind up with guys playing "out of position".

Hrbek actually played one game at 3B in 1990.

This from the King Cheater, you know you do what you can get away with, Mcclane tried to start the year with Ruppert catching, but we called him on it.

Game Summary:

Errors, poor baserunning, untimely hitting...it's become an all-to-frequent pattern for the Fighting Tony Danzas, and their 11-4 loss to The OC in  Fantasy RBI League game on Wednesday at Tengen Stadium showed exactly why they are currently tied for last place.

Three errors led to four unearned runs against The Fighting Tony Danzas (3-7), while they also had a runner tagged out at home and another runner doubled off of second on a line drive. Those errors, combined with no home runs, was enough to send them to their fourth straight defeat.

The OC (6-5) moved back above .500 and one-half game ahead of the idle Poopydicks for the final playoff spot. Rich Gedman drove in three for them, while Willie McGee added a pinch-hit home run.

I especially like the fact that you were able to masterfully cram 3 or 4 sentences into 1.  Great job, Ultimate!   :P

Rereading that was hilarious.  Each idea was only very vaguely tied to my previous thought, I'm not sure how my head is working right now.
