I was wondering if anybody would be interested in an online league? The page is allready set up. Gantry might also give us a forum on this board.  It will be an original team rom. We will use nesticle for gameplay.  The Schedule and everything is set. 20 game season, 2 games a week. We would like to use AIM for our league messenger, my aim is Clyon81, so if you are interested, contact me there, or by CandE53189@yahoo.com.  I am also interested in somebody that might want to set up a simple stat system so we could keep track of team stats. If im missing anything, just ask.

I guess I'll join the league and take the Angels..

For now, we'll use this thread to Iron out some rules.  Then when we get things going and fill out the teams, we'll start a forum.

Some things to consider:

1)  I don't really like the first-come-first-serve idea of getting teams.  Given this is a guinea pig league, it'll be fine for now.   But if the league takes off, people should be able to choose teams and/or a lottery if you want to use only one team.

2)  One or two starting pitchesr?

More ideas to come, but feel free to discuss...

I'm pretty sure that dialup connections are too slow to reliably play NES games.  But there's only one way to find out...

How to Join:

1-You need to get the emulator nesticle.
2-You need to get the original rbi baseball rom for the emulator (ill post it on the webpage soon, with links.
3- go to www.aol.com, get aim, and get a screen name

My aim is clyon81, so if you guys want to play a scrimmage or two or something, hit me up once you have done the above, also go to the league site and the teams section to find other members aim's and hit them up for a scrimmage.

After testing some other dial-ups, i have concluded that they work with cable, but not with eachother, so I guess Ill be the only dial-upper in this league. Cable or better only. (unless you test with me, and it works)

right, because otherwise it's a question if somebody acutally tries to knick, and misses. so just stand in the middle, and toss it

I think the pitching should be up the middle, but I also think that sinkers should be allowed at least.  Otherwise good pitchers are just worthless no?

i dont think so, because most of the time its random, so theres not much skill involved with it.  the main point of down the middle is so people can hit the ball and not strikeout.

I hate to be the one to knock a staight pitch style, but down the middle, no moving on the mound and no slowballs makes pretty much all pitching worthless.  It'll be a slugfest, but I'm up to the challenge....

The key is getting a demo league started and we can iron out the rules afterwards.  So it's clyon's league, let him pick the rules and we can adapt later.  Too many of these leagues never get started because there is too much preparation and everyone loses interest...

up the middle still makes for a fun game, and i believe it makes the game go by a lot faster... we don't want these games to drag on... that way we can play two a week and not feel like we're ALWAYS playing baseball... and yes, it does take away somewhat from good pitching, but it makes guys like Nolan even more valuable

only having pitching up the middle completely devalues Nolan.  His biggest threat is the fastball.  It is not a threat if you can sit on it by knowing that the sinker isn't coming.  

If this becomes a pitch-up-the-middle slugfest, how in the world am I supposed to compete with Houston?!...

The sinker tires out pitchers as well as making the game more than just a slugfest.  With sinkers enabled, I played somone (Schneike?) and the score was 9-7 at the end of six innings.  Take away the sinker, double the score...

Down the midde pitching is not debateable. Sinker is. I guess we could have it if you guys want, but it has to be straight. The thing is sometimes people turn off sound to speed up the connections, and without that sounds, people sometimes don't know if's a sinder until they have allready swong the bat. (swong?)  So I guess let's play with it. But my concearn is some pitches have slow pitches that never cross the plate, and that would be a distinct advantage as opposed to somebody who can't do that.

2 more teams to go, then the season starts, get your 2 cents in soon cause I want to get the official season 1 rules up and started.
