Baines

Oh, I think another quality detail that deserves mentioning is that I struck out 11 times in one of those games and it may not have even gone a full nine.

Baines may have hit a homer with Baines, yelled Baines and immediately changed into a Baines jersey.

You know who's the best? Baines...

JoeDirt/Baines,

Did games 2 and 3 of your series go the full 9 innings?

I said it once and I'll say it again - stock is smart

I don't remember.  Baines?

I think game two went 5 and game 3 went 7.

Thanks,
I will "pencil" those in.  I just need these in case it comes down to one of the tie-breakers.
Baines, please let me know if these are not correct.

Noah and I have had a tough time hooking up this week, so we won't get our games in until next week.  Does anyone have any qualms if I played my week 3 games before week 2?  Noah is out of town this weekend and I'd like to get some play in...

If I'm not mistaken I think we play in week 3 so I'm ready whenever you are.  Going skiing Saturday but other than that I'll be around from now through the end of the weekend.

Damn...  I sent you a PM a few seconds after I got one from you asking to play tonight.

A nice feature for everyone is to enable notification when you get a new PM.  Go to Profile --> Personal Message Options --> Show a Popup When You Received New Messages.   Very handy, though to have to the PM actually show up (instead of just getting a message) you have to make sure forums.dee-nee.com are in your allowed popup list.

We'll tangle next week Noah, enjoy your weekend...

Ryno23

I'm due to play noah next week as well.

Hopefully he'll break both hands, thus requiring him to use his feet to play.

This is the only way for me to have any sort of advantage.

Monkey nuts, I do suck 'em.

JoeDirt

what the H?  I think my next opponent is boy Noah, too.

Gantry was scheduled to play Noah in week 2.  JoeDirt, you are scheduled to play noah in week 3.  Ryno plays him in week 4.  Ryno has already played his week 3 game, so that is why he said he is playing Noah next.

Take a look at the schedule listed in the 4th post of the Sticky Thread

#34
In the first game of the belated Poopybutts/Noah series went down to the wire:

Noah G - 10, 6 HRs
Poopybutts - 8, 7 HRs

In an affair dubbed the "lag bowl" Noah plays savvy and picks up the win.  Both guys had trouble even seeing some pitches as the lag fucked up both offense and defense.  Noah used a balanced offensive attack to get their runs while the Poopybutts relied one the 1-2 punch of Harry Spilman and Jack Clark to garner most of their offense.  Spilman just missed his 4th homer when his deep flyball hit the top of the centerfield wall in the 8th.  All in all a great game and the next two should be doozies:

HRs for Noah - Gaetti (2), Downing, Wilfong, Hendrick, McGee
HRs for Poopybutts - Spilman (3), Jack Clark (2), Canseco, Schmidt

Uh oh, I think I might have missed a dinger for Noah.  That or he only had 5 dingers...

Gantry

Spilman is the man....

Game two also went Noah's way in a 4-2 slugfest.  I had ZERO dingers while Noah got homers from Joyner, Wilfong and Downing.   Notice the California connection in his power numbers the first two games, gotta love it...

The lag was even worse this game and timing a pitch was definitely an adventure.  Noah was able to get on the board early and turned some tricky double plays to seal the deal...

Game 3 is postponed due to lag.  If anyone else wants to test out the servers tonight (especially 209.242.26.125) please do so and let me know.  I'm going to do some lag testing tonight to see what is up.  But the servers are barely playable at this point...

Ryno23

Dare I say this is the first instance of a game being "postponed due to lag" in the history of . . . .  .. the world?

Game three ended like the rest, a close win for Noah but that was likely the strangest game I ever played:

Noah G - 6, 2HRs
Poopybutts - 5, 5HRs

NoahG homers for Downing and Wilfong, Poopybutts dingers for Strawberry, Canseco, Lindeman, Nokes and Schmidt...

Where do I begin with that one?  First off, there was finally no lag.  As a result I couldn't hit a fucking thing.  Had one hit through 7 innings.   I finally get the bats going when all hell breaks loose.  Noah brings in Worrell as his last pitcher in the 8th.  My strategy was simple, keep taking pitches until I wear the fucker out.  So I am taking every fastball under the sun and Worrell's 15 stamina is easily gone one out into the 8th.  But then Worrell fires off a pitch to lindeman...

It was the slowest pitch in the history of standard RBI Baseball.  It was so slow that I retreated to the bottom, came back to the center of the plate and still hit it off the edge of the bat.  Why I didn't take the pitch I just don't know.  Noah and i stop to talk and confirm that we've both never seen anything like it.  I'm fuming about not taking the pitch while Lindeman goes yard...

But then it happens again!  I struggle to find the screenshot button but couldn't do it in time.  The pitch registers at 10mph.  That's right, ten miles an hour...

Fast forward to the top of the 9th...  I tie up the game and have Worrell completely worn out.  He can't top 75 on his fastballs and his slowballs have no drop.  This is my chance I tell myself.  Then suddenly something else happens.   Worrells normal pitch is going about 95 even though his stamina is completely out.  My dumb ass mentions it to Noah, who was throwing almost exclusively slowballs and fastballs.  So the last two batters are a foulout and popout on "normal" pitches I can't time because they are 20 mph faster then his fastball...

So we're tied going into the bottom of the 9th.  Noah subs in Gwyn n and he pops it weakly to second base.  BOP!  So with Gwynn on second and two outs Noah is forced to bat with the pitcher.  Worrell swings late and knocks an opposite field liner over the 1st baseman's head.  Ballgame...

That, my friends, was the RBI Baseball Twilight Zone.  Hope you enjoyed it, I certainly didn't.  But it was a fun series, Noah is a tough player.  As much as I'd like to blame the glitches or lag, he simply outpitched and outsmarted me.  That's why he went 3-0...

RedBarron

joe dirt's LOONy ass won't be easy to beat.

There was this one time that I beat him. . . . . . . . . yeah, that's it. . . . . just one time.
