Game Summary:

The OC were embarrassed at home by BeefMaster in Game 2 of the Fantasy World Series. So when they traveled to BeefMaster Field for Game 3 on Wednesday, they were determined to return the favor. And they certainly did that, racking up 12 hits en route to a 12-1 thrashing in a game called after two innings, to take a 2-1 series lead.

The OC received a pair of breaks when Mike Schmidt and Don Mattingly each hit three-run homers that barely cleared the outfield wall. Still, BeefMaster starter Jimmy Key looked tired and overmatched after his great perfomance in Game 2 of the series. The OC scored four times in the first and eight times in the second to seal the game.

Given the offensive run support, Dwight Gooden didn't have to be sharp, but he was in his limited work. Gooden gave up one run on four hits in the two innings of work to earn his second victory of the series.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

I knew it was going to be a big blowout when I saw that there was only one part to the game video.  When it was 4-1 after one inning, I knew things weren't boding well, and as soon as the OC scored in the top of the second, I knew it was over.  Crapola.

feast or famine.... man, feast or famine.  i can only imagine the tv ratings for this are down though.  hopefully the network execs won't pull the plug.

I almost thought about posting fake links to other "parts of the game" just to not make it so obvious what the outcome was.

Not a bad idea, of course there were a few times that I only watched the last portion because I was short on time, this would ruin that plan.

well, here i am awake at 3am because of my stupid neighbor who prefers to play laud music to sleep.

there's nothing like wasting a half hour of your prime REM sleep waiting for music to stop so why not watch game four of the world series?

thanks. what an experience.  i would like to thank mcgee for swinging at ball four, and daley for once again pitching for the wrong team.

watching this game was a lot like watching the aicha video by gellieman.  especially about the first five innings... so sweet, so beautiful.  even the manager pulling gooden after giving up a dinger, when's the last time we found timely management from the AI?  well we wouldn't find it later to walk baylor.  what a tremendous lineup those beefies have.

and like aicha (and ryno23), everyday on her throne, my team took a crap.  oh well, what can an rbi fantasy owner do?  wait for game five and hope its another 1 part game.  we like those.

Game Summary:

Just when it looked like BeefMaster was doing everything possible to give away Game 4 of the Fantasy RBI World Series to The OC on Thursday, their bats finally woke up. And once they were awake, they didn't feel like sleeping the rest of the day, as they rallied from an 11-run deficit to take an improbable 24-17 victory in front of a delirious home crowd to even the series at two games apiece.

The OC had taken a 17-6 lead in the top of the sixth thanks to an eight run inning. When BeefMaster scored four times in the bottom of the sixth, it seemed like an afterthought, a prolonging of an already decided game. But then BeefMaster erupted for seven runs each in the seventh and eighth innings off of a shellshocked OC bullpen, while the BeefMaster bullpen stiffened up and shut out The OC for the final three innings.

BeefMaster won despite committing four errors, and having three runners thrown our at third base by OC left fielder Jim Rice. However, they won by tagging a usually reliable OC pitching staff for 37 hits. Dave Henderson continued to be a thorn in the side of Orange County teams in the postseason, putting together the greatest single game performance in Fantasy RBI World Series history. Henderson was 6 for 6, with three home runs and eight RBI. Gary Carter added a home run and five RBI for BeefMaster.

Jim Rice continued a solid postseason for The OC in defeat. He was 5 for 6 with a pair of homers, four runs and four RBI. Dwight Gooden was again solid starting for The OC, giving up five earned runs in four -plus innings of work. However, The OC's bullpen was a disaster, with Doyle Alexander and Ken Dayley combining to give up 19 earned runs in just four innings of combined work.

Welcome back to PTI. Our next topic is Game 4 of the Fantasy RBI World Series. The OC was ready to take a commanding 3-1 series lead after taking a 17-6 lead into the bottom of the sixth. But BeefMaster started piling up the runs off of The OC's bullpen, eventually winning the game 24-17. The question here, Tony, is this: is this the biggest collapse in modern sports history?

Listen – to be up 11 runs, where all you need is to get three outs, and you can't do that? That's incredible. I'll take that ahead of the Oilers versus the Bills in the wild card round, or the Red Sox in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series...

Come on Tony, bigger than Buckner? All the guy had to do was catch a ball. Even if he BOPed it, he could have gotten to first to get Mookie out in time.

But, the Red Sox didn't have an 11-run lead in the game. The bigger question here is this: can The OC rebound from this loss. I think that they've completely lost the momentum, and I don't see how they are getting it back.

Simple – get the offense to score runs early, and let Dwight Gooden carry you. As long as Gooden can continue to pitch like he has been, they'll forget about Game 4 pretty quickly.

The past is prologue, Wilbon. You can't just erase the fact that you blew an 11-run lead from your memory.

Game Summary:

After BeefMaster had whittled a nine-run deficit down to one run after eight innings on Tuesday, it looked like ti was deja vu all over again for The OC. However, Willie McGee and Eric King made sure that history didn't repeat itself, as the unlikely duo combined to give The OC a ninth inning spark and lift their team to a 20-18 victory at BeefMaster Stadium to take a 3-2 series lead.

Pinch hitting, McGee drove in Wade Boggs with the go-ahead run on a double, and scored and insurance run when the throw home was wide of the catcher and went to the backstop. King came on in the bottom of the ninth, and after giving up a solo home run to Dave Henderson to lead off the inning, retired the final three BeefMaster batters in order to preserve the victory.

George Bell had a dominant game for The OC, hitting three home runs and driving in six. Kirby Puckett scored four times and added a home run as part of a 4 for 7 day. Dwight Gooden picked up the victory despite a very rough outing. Gooden gave up 11 earned runs in just four innings of work, including eight runs in the last two innings as BeefMaster was able to cut into a 12-3 deficit.

Henderson had three home runs (all solo shots) to lead the BeefMaster offense, while Reggie Jackson homered twice and drove in four. However, like The OC, their starter also failed to deliver, as Jimmy Key was battered for 12 runs in four innings.

The two teams shift over to The OC Stadium to play Game 6 and, if necessary, Game 7.

Yikes... time for a comeback on the road.  It was an entertaining game to watch, even though my boys never led after the first inning.

I only watched the part 6, but I really thought BeefMaster was going to make a comeback.  It was an exciting ninth inning, and surprising to see a strong performance from the OC's bullpen.   Quality entertainment.
I've been swimming in raw sewage ... I love it

Game Summary:

It was only fitting that if the Fantasy RBI season couldn't come down to a Game 7, it at least came down to the final pitch in the final game. After a dramatic three-run Dick Schofield homered closed BeefMaster to within a run in the bottom of the ninth of Game 6 of the Fantasy RBI World Series, the pressure was on The OC closer Eric King to close the door on another BeefMaster rally. And he was able to do that, getting Glenn Davis to foul out and Don Baylor to ground out to second to preserce a nerve-racking 13-12 victory to clinch the Fantasy RBI World Series title before a delirious sell-out crowd at The OC Stadium.

The OC's owner, TeddyBallGame, was jubulant as he received the coveted Zettler Trophy from commissioner fightonusc in the post-game ceremonies.

"A lot of people wrote this team off after we had such an up and down regular season," he said. "But I knew that with pitching like we have, and the type of offense we can provide, that we could be dangerous in the playoffs. This is a credit to the great OC fans who stayed with us through thick and thin. Viva La OC!"

Above: The Zettler Trophy, awarded each year to team winning the Fantasy RBI World Series.

Teddyballgame then announced plans to change the team's name to the Los Angeles OC of Santa Ana for next season.

The unlikely hitting star of Game 6 for The OC was Rich Gedman, who homered, drove in four and scored twice. The pitching was again solid, as Dwight Gooden picjed up the win by giving up five earned runs over four innings.

Baylor homered twice, drive in three and scored two runs, despite making the final out of the season. But the real culprit was BeefMaster's inability to produce on the basepaths. They had several runners thrown out during the series, including in this game. In the fourth inning, a potential big rally was killed when Jimmy Key was thrown out trying score on Reggie Jackson's shallow liner to end the inning.

Great year and it's all thanks to usc.  Nicely done, my friend.  Thank you for all the hard work you have put in.

Congrats to Teddy.

That trophy is the coolest trophy I have ever seen.
