i'm a little confused by this process since i'm not much of a wiki'r and i think i haven't worked on the databse in 4 years.

does the original downing page exist? or the good text anywhere?

Ste basic steps:

1)  Open up the page on the old database
2)  Click on the "history" tab
3)  Click on the most recent date that was edited by a human
4)  Click the "edit" tab
5)  Copy all text (Ctrl-A then Ctrl-C)
6)  On the new database, search for the exact title of the page
7)  When it doesn't find it, there will be an option to create a new page
8)  Paste
9)  Profit!

Rinse and repeat for every page on the wiki.

C's images are done.  I think I'll do a letter a day (or two if they have few images) so it should be done in a couple weeks. 

Still looking for volunteers - I think the best approach would be for someone to step up and transfer over all articles for a letter or two.  We get enough people it shouldn't take more than a week...

Not following, sorry.  If you create a page on the new wiki, you can copy/paste all the info from the old wiki into it.  It's just a matter of divvying up the pages so ones person can do all "A" pages - and so on.

I'll try to get a few done, but it's looking like a busy week of work, so I won't promise anything at the moment - I'll just start with some late-in-the-alphabet letters if I have time.  If nothing else, I'll be up late Wednesday evening and should be able to do a bunch then.

That's perfectly fine, anyone who wants to help can simply claim a letter when they start working on it and we'll go from there.  Jerry is updating some of the more important pages so make sure you go to Special Pages --> All Pages before you start and see what pages in your letter have already been transferred over.  I am going to focus on the Images and all the special pages (templates, categories, etc) on an as need basis.
