Hey guys, hows it going? It's been awhile since Ive been here. I was browsing around, and decided to check the message board for my RBI 2k3 rom. Anyway, I stumbled across this link a guy left, and he said he made an editor in C++ for RBI. You might have allready heard of it, but just incase, here it is...

I havent tried it yet, but I do have a few suggestions for the next editor based on things ive seen in tecmo editors. A place to easily change the batting order / pitching rotation. Also, the ability to trade players would be nice, especially if you ran a sim league, and wanted to allow transactions without having to re-type the information for every trade.

Hey Chet, welcome back...

I've never seeen this new editor before, lets see if I can find out the guy/gal who made it and contact him.  Looks much better than RBI Manager and pretty close to nightwulf's online editor.  Compeition in the RBI Editing world, I love it!

I can't get it to work - it can't find MFC42D.dll.  I believe it's some sort of Visual C++ runtime file.  I don't happen to have any MS dev tools installed, so I don't have it.  Anybody got a copy of this file they could spare?

Running Linux in the basement and too lazy to go upstairs, so let me know how the editor is...

Ack!  As soon as I added that DLL, it complained about another one, so I downloaded that, and there was yet another one.  I don't believe it's worth my time to keep fishing for DLLs.  Anyone know this guy's e-mail address, so I can ask him to post the DLLs?  I went to his homepage, but all that's there is a link to the RBI Editor page.

I took a look at the source (even though my C++ is incredibly rusty) - it doesn't look nearly as ugly as I thought something like this would have to be, and I became somewhat inspired.  I found an old post by Nightwulf where he broke down the format of some of RBI 3's player data, and I decided to dig into it and see what I could find.  I managed to find the batter data for the 30 regular teams, but then I got lost, and I couldn't find any pitcher data or historical team data.  I also don't know where I'd look for stuff like uniform colors - I'm not even sure what I'd be looking for.  If anyone would be willing to help me take a look at this, I'd like to take a stab at some RBI 3 editing.

I would really like to get in touch with this guy, but can't find any contact info.  Checked his website, forums post on clyons page, html source and program source.  Nothing.  If anyone knows this guy's email address, let me know...

I'd love to help out in terms of RBI 3 but probably don't have the time to commit to that right now.  All all-purpose editor would be excellent, being able to read RBI 1,2 and 3.  Including all various ROM variants.  But way too time for me and I don't know C++ eliminating dbatch's codebase....

jrg

the dbatch editor is great, even though searching for dll's suck. i only needed 3 though, try searching on kazaa for system files.

someone e-mailed me on my rom page, and told me about some rbi editor he's been working on. that may be something to look out for.

if someone could make an editor that would also wok with theother rbi roms that would be sweet. editing a full league of 25-man rosters would be a nice way to eat up my too much spare time. like cylon mentioned, an editor that allowed you to move players around in the lineup and between teams would make editing a lot less tedious. if anyone is familiar with the dangerz editor for the high heat pc games (which i used a lot when i made rosters for hh 01 and 02), that would be a great editor to use as a model for a comprehensive rbi editor

Hey jrg, could you email or PM me that guys email address?

Looks pretty cool.  A nice straight forward editor.  I would love to see a Universal RBI 1,2,3 editor as well, though I think there are enough differences between the games that you'd need a seperate editor for each.  I think we can skip a #2 editor and concentrate on a #3 editor.

BeefMaster

Actually, an RBI 2 editor would share a lot of common code with RBI 3, I think - from looking through some of the data in the ROM yesterday, it appears that the data for the division winners is stored in a different location than that for the 30 regular teams (I couldn't find the division winners).  I believe RBI 3 added a few gameplay tweaks, however (the only one I know of for sure is that batters can move closer to the plate; in RBI 2, you can barely hit pitches on the outside corner), so it'd still be a better bet.

Why are you guys talking about games that don't exist?

They're kinda like Karate Kid II and III and Rocky V and Caddyshack II.  They never happened, remember?
