Big Hath

just before the batter makes contact with the ball, I've begun press up on the d-pad to make the defense already be moving back for extra range in case I need it on a grounder

not sure if it's good strategy yet or not, just something I'm tinkering with
Battle not with monsters lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

I imagine that it would work well for hitters with some pop.  I could not see doing that for pitchers and Rafael Santana.

JoeDirt

TBT do you have a good computer yet?  We could be practicing online...

i repeatedly fail to call my guy to come over and get my computer fixed so i can download crap...and also chat at dee-nee.

i just sent him an email.  maybe this weekend he gets my issues resolved.  on the other hand, im trying to swing a car, drum kit, and possibly a new computer as well with savings and tax return.  by hook or crook, we're playin online rbi.

oh and do you have a link for where i can buy one of those nes controllers for the computer port?

what kind of car(?)

caddillac sedan deville?  Lincoln towncar?  Lincoln continental?  Some sort of pimp ride...i miss those type of cars.  whatever i can get for around 4000 thousand.

i dont care about new cars and car cayments, and all that jazz.  plus i got a mechanic that works for as long as you keep a beer in his hand.  water pumps, brake work, tune-ups,etc, and shit like that are pretty damn cheap for me.  However im called whne shingles need to be put ona  roof, and things like that.

That's cool.  I ask because I have a solid '98 Honda Accord coupe with nothing wrong with it.  I briefly thought it be a great car for you, but I can't justify letting it go 'cause it's been such a good car.  I have been finding that I sorta want to get something else (also not new--I don't think I'll ever be able to bring myself to do it), but this car is too solid.

im sold on toyotas for sure.  i suppose hinda's might be in the same league?   ;D  ive had em a few times for work vehicles.  small, and very economic in my line of work where you travel a ton around town.

my beat up corrola goes all over hell all week long for maybe 20 bucks tops.  back in like 2000 i had a small toyoya truck.  damn thing cost me around 11-13 bucks a week in gas to probably put a couple hundred miles on it a week.  and the truck had 260,000 miles when i got rid of it.

toyotas rock!
as for whatever i buy, i'll drive the dang thing maybe twice a week.  i used to have a nice olds...drove it on trips out of town and that was about it.  otherwise, i was out flying around in my rust bucket truck.

I refuse to believe this was a typo.

Going back to the Big Hath strategy, OctoFranco is the king of stealing Petis' with his pitcher, not sure how he does it all the time, maybe it's the quick reflextes, but he's got an excellent first RBI step.

JoeDirt

Yeah, kip, for the right kind of money, you can buy just about anything...DIBT, care, etc.

he's probably coming out better on this deal than i am.

I've found that I try and keep the defense moving whichever way the ball was breaking.  It helps cover more ground in the holes between 1st & 2nd and Short and 3rd.

GoReds - a man among men...

JoeDirt

I do this, too.  Although if I'm throwing on the outter corner of the outside corner (and according to the ill-informed Beef this is 99% of my pitches), then my defense is already moving toward the left side of the field ('cause I like to push the pitch into/just short of into said corner)...which works out when the ball is hit deep into the ss/3b hole.

Gantry

I definitely like to get a "jump" on the ball in a lefty hit situation, I'm pretty sure it works.  In straight pitch though you have to be careful to not do it too early, as you'd be "curving" the ball then...

Kips - You saying Octo gets a quick "left" motion with his pitcher to grab a potential Pettis hit?  That sounds like a solid technique, but does it backfire if he misses?  Sounds like doign that may cost you a little time with the SS...

Attezz

I tend to go for the Petis with too many players, the obvious ones, and than even Herr, Whitaker and many others. If he misses it with his pitcher it does tend to result with a runner on first, however, it seems that more often than not he doesn't miss it with the pitcher, so overall it works out.

We're playing tonight, so I'll see if I can get him to explain it in more detail.
