Next RBI Legends Page

Finally getting the urge to work on the page and it's time to add more legend pages.  For those who didn't see them, they are under "Legends" on the navigation bar of the main page.  This page is devoted to the lesser-known bench RBI'ers who contribute the game.  So guys like Armas, HoJo etc are already well known and don't need a page.  Who do you think should be the next RBI Legend?

I'm going with Gene Larkin because it was his substitution that brough on the phrase "Dee-Nee"  -  that in itself is rather legendary...

Bergman. He is vastly underrated. Must be hit with the 'tettleton" stance. He is a hitting machine. I sub Whitaker for him. Try it.

I'd have to give a nod to Davey Lopes or Dickie Thon.  Lopes has good speed and always hits for me and I've found that Thon has the best power (for me, anyway) on Houston.  For some reason, I'm far more likely to go deep with Reynolds or Thon than GDavis (sorry GDavis )

We are big fans of Bergman over here BDawk and he's #2 on the legend list right now...

Thon nis a good pick, especially with the nickname penis.  Lopes being a former manager is a bit popular for the legend page right now, at least until we expand it.  But an underrated player for sure...

I like the Thon/Lopes argument, they're solid picks. I think you can also make a case for Scrap Iron (Garner) with him returning to manage the team that made him famous.

Garner is definitely a stud, but the managing thing turns me off for now.  Maybe I'm worrying too much about the popularity thing...

Ideally every RBI'er should have their own page and I've flirted with the idea of an RBI Database where you can rate every player and comment on them a la amazon or imdb reviews...

I also like Dave Bergman.  When I was a kid, I always subbed in Bergman, Sheridan, and Madlock.  However, I like Bergman for late inning heroics now.  I'm not sure how I got away from subbing him in for the entire game?!?

I'm voting Steve Lake, always liked him when he was on the Cubs.

We went along the same path.  Bergman was pretty much never used until Lipitz started putting him in for Lemon right away.  He became a superstar for awhile though we've realized that Lemon is better for an entire game.  So now most of us keep him for the ultra-clutch substition for Lemon or anyone else when you have a runner on or need a huge hit...

He really does deliver in the 1st AB, especially with runners on...

B-E-R-G...Man is a good pick because of his clutch play in lefty hit situations or the key pinch hit for HR.

Dee-Nee Larkin is known more for the sound effect than his actual performance, but that alone makes him legendary.

However, my vote goes to Tom "Booker T....SUCKA!" "TB are you WIT me?" "The Bookends" Brookens.  Yes, he's my favorite player, but besides me, who gives him credit?  He hasn't had a job in baseball since retirement (he's resorted to coaching Girls Softball and he's been voted the best 8 hitter in RBI).  

You want him on that page, you need him on that page!

I am trying to keep the legends page to bench players, but Brookens really typifies an RBI Legend.  He isn't that well-known, plays a HUGE game of RBI and has a stache.  Should I consider regular hitters for the Legends page?  What does everyone else think?

Yes, Brookens is a good choice, starting or bench shouldn't matter as much as RBI ability relative to how well know they are.

Brookens is a favorite of mine as well. No argument here if he's got a place on the Legends page.

I'd vote for him if he ran for Senator.

I voted Aldrete.  I saw him almost hit for the cycle a couple years ago when he was with the Yanks.  One of the greatest games I've seen live.  My friends and I were going nuts seeing RBI get represented.

I voted for Blank Morris simply because Chubbs has won 4, count `em, games with walk off homers hit by Blank.  Unfortunately, I was pitching.

Hmmm, Mark got me going his way here.  I like the Brookens Legend page.  He's so CHEEZY; the magic mustache is key...

And "BOOKER T, SUCKA!!!!!!!!" was a pretty solid addition to the TB nickname list, this year.  I'm a fan.

Isn't Aldrete already considered the best PH on SF, by the casual player?  I personally am with Gantry in saying that Home Run Harry is the best, but I'd bet that Aldrete's .325 average makes the layman say he's the best.

I voted for Heath, 'cause he's a stud in curve.  Although, it should be noted, that the Lefty factor isn't nearly as prevalent in curve (IMO).
