I feel like this has been brought up before so what is the deal with sometimes you go back to the main page on everything goes and all your "new" icons are gone?

This happens a TON when I pull it up on my phone (I refuse to use tapatalk so I'm looking at the whole big ass site on mobile)

I have this issue, as well.  The "NEW" icons come back after reloading the page.
