Your level of dedication is inspiring, I'll do my best to attend the next affair.  So is Des Moines out for sure?

Des Moines will definitely be one of our locations next year for a Tecmo/RBI double header.  I have a lot of friends/family there that will come out and support, and the Keg Stand is an awesome bar to hold it in.

I won the Tecmo Tourney yesterday in Houston.  Had a couple good Tecmo Super Bowl players there that played us tough, but Nate and I met in the title game.  I won that 9-3 to get my 3rd title in 3 tries.  3-peat for the year in Omaha, Des Moines, and Houston.  The trophy is sweet.  Got it in my back pack waiting at the airport.

I'll post pics when I get home.  The Tecmo Super players hung out and picked our brains a few nights during the 3 day event and were pretty damn good by the end.

Nate, Cam, and myself have run our record to 34-1 vs the field in these events....the lone loss by Nate was by 1 point.

Not much else we need to do in regards to planting a flag representing on our level of dominance these days at Tecmo Bowl.

None.  I had sent the info to Beales this spring and he said he would circulate it.  This deal was set up to run for 4 days, so if you came from out of town it required a great deal of commitment.  I flew out of Omaha on Wednesday, and back in on Monday. Tecmo/RBI were played on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.  I took Friday to sight-see in Houston. Former NFL LB with Seattle, Rufus Porter is head of security at the Ayva center.   Hes on Tecmo Super Bowl, and he was also on the japan famicom version Nate and I play of the original Tecmo Bowl.  He signed a cart for me.  Really great guy to talk to.

Houston's downtown is incredible.  Cleanest/most sterile downtown area I've ever seen.  I saw no trash, no shitty dilapidated buildings, and hardly any crazy/homeless people.  It's like it was out of a movie.  Went to the art car museum, and toured an abandoned cistern that used to supply the city with water, and saw a twilight light experience at Rice university.  I got my nerd on that day.

Here's the trophy I won.  The base is a NES controller with the D-pad and buttons lazer etched into it.  It's not glass, but its somewhat similar in clearness and weight.  Its also pretty damn thick.  My son dances when the Tecmo Bowl TD music gets played.....perhaps he'll be better at that side of the ball than his old man.

Nate allowed 6 points through his first 6 games, and I allowed 12 leading up to the finals.  We had both scored well over 100 by then.  By championship games end, we both had allowed 15 points in 7 tournament games.  People could occasionally find ways to slow us down, but we're able to stop any offense out there.  Our closest group plays games were basically 28-6/24-6 type wins.  I did have a brutal 7-0 semi final win.  Got up early and just held on.  Nate crusied to a 42-0 semi final win.  Played a guy that uses a gimmick that's money against the rest of the field, but has NO shot against us.  His only losses were to Nate and I by the end.

I think in 19 tournaments games this year, I've only trailed in 2.  Both were 6-0 deficits.  There is only a really, really, small faction out there that could beat us, but to come into these events with no prior experience playing us....its a mega tall order.  The 2 really good Tecmo Super players there made some serious strides as we exchange info with them for a few days.  They have narrowed the gap considerably, but can they get over the hump?  That's the hard part.  I can teach people to pull much closer, but with so many moving parts there's a slew of incremental things that you can only learn through tons of experience.

That trophy is terrific.  Sounds like you had a hell of a time; congrats, again.

Brad how do these tournaments address the Mark Bavaro curls or the Cap Trap plays where the defender just gets suctioned off if timed correctly?

Or is this Tecmo Super bowl that everyone is playing?

This was for the 4 play original Tecmo.  There were no rules in place for that type of stuff, so we do needed to be very careful of it.  It could be exploited heavily.  I can intercept Boso and Roger Craig on the shotgun slant so that's not a concern for me.  The Bavaro curl is a different story.  You basically need to know which defenses will sack Simms before he can get that pass off.

The first game I played the guy threw out CHI vs NY.  I just went with player 1 as my choice and he took Chicago...so I wasn't too concerned about that stuff either way.  Won it 28-6.  That's just another example of studying the game more than anyone else, and looking for every imaginable way people could try to get an edge on us.  That guy didnt try to exploit the Boso slant, but I was ready for it the few times I hit him on that call.
