I was just looking at the official FCEUltra site, and I noticed that in version 0.98.10 (the online-enabled release) they added support for Vs. arcade games, including RBI Baseball.  The entry on the site mentions that the games should be in "iNES format", but I'm not sure what exactly that refers to.  Anyone know for sure what file type this is?  It'd be cool if it was the original arcade ROM, as we have a copy of that on dee-nee.com, but I'm unable to check it out at the moment (at work).  It'd be nifty to be able to have the option to play the arcade version online (albeit without 2-player pausing, unless Nightwulf gets into the arcade code).

Also, I see that there's a new version of FCEUltra out (0.98.12).  Does anyone know whether different versions can communicate in online play?  It looks like the only change was to speed up the Windows version, so there may not be any changes to the network code.

I remember reading on the FCE message boards that version 0.98.11 had some decent updates but they aren't listed on the main page.  They went to0.98.12 from 0.98.10, weird.  I remember about 0.98.11 having some work done on making video files of your emulated games.  And speedups for Windows aren't too helpful for RBI IMHO because it seems to me that the game runs a hair faster when emulated.  Anyone else see this?

As for the iNES format, it's pretty much a standard way of packing up a ROM so they are all the same.  This is done sans googling so nightwulf can fix my mistakes - but each ROM starts out with about 8-bytes of data, including a header with something like "NES" in some character set (ascii?) so the emulators know it's in iNES format.  iNES was one of the first emulators IIRC so it's format kinda stuck...

All that being said, I'm not sure if there is an aracade version in iNES format.  Nightwulf did make a NES version of the aracde, but I think he edited the standard NES ROM with arcade stats.  If he did do the conversion, I have lost the ROM...

I didn't realize that iNES format was the standard .NES that most ROMs are in.  I'm pretty sure the arcade ROM that you have is different; I wonder what kind of processing would be required to make it into a NES file.  I don't recall seeing a converted .NES arcade file anywhere on your site or forums, unless it was before my time here.

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

And RBI Arcade does in fact work on FCEU 0.98.12 thought I didn't play a game.  Didn't know the key to insert a coin, lazy...

I could've sworn it was "C". It's F8 now.
