It's called "The Sweetest Swing in Baseball", and it's the story of an artist who ends up in a pschyiatric hospital after her boyfriends leaves her and her new exhibit tanks. While she's there, she begins to impersonate Darryl Strawberry in order to buy herself more time before she has to check out.

From a Boston Globe interview with the playwright:

"I did tons of research, but it was a bad idea for a play," she says by phone from Chicago. ''In doing the research I'd gotten my head into a baseball place. Then I found stories about Darryl Strawberry. And I thought, 'There's a person who's enjoyed the fruits and the downside of success.' I'd been thinking about the way people are inconsistent in the way they treat celebrities, one minute they're beloved, the next they're vilified."

Gilman said the character, Dana, took on the persona of Strawberry by accident. ''I think it's initially a random choice. There's someone in the hospital who gives her biographies by recovering alcoholics. She feels a subtle affinity for him that she can't articulate at first."

The title is taken from something she heard someone say about Strawberry's swing. ''It's true, he had a perfect swing."

Someone in the area needs to go see this and give us a report. Nothing like combining the arts and RBI.
