Which side do you take on the mound?

And of course why. With who as well as any other kind of strategy you like to deploy.

With my Giants, it goes like this:

Reschl/Krukow vs lefties: far right(from you looking at the screen). Throw the fastball moving away from the lefty for a strike on the black. Then when the hitter shifts towards the outside to get the ball on the corner, simply curve the ball back inside for a strike when the ball is almost three-fourths the way there. Mix it up, throw a few straight in, but tight for a strike, and of course curve it even further inside to get the batter swinging when he shifts inside to hit it. I Do not show all my pitches until the third, unless I get in a jam. Get the hitter guessing as soon as possible in the first, and bring the element of surprise in the third, unless you have given up some hits early. And I never use hard fastballs, unless it is an emergency with Reschl, do to his dim bite at times.
Reschl/Krukow vs righties: vice versa.
Garrelts- Throw the hard shit on the outside black on both the righties and lefties. Paint the black for a strike or a ball. Curve it just a pinch if the batter is hacking so he only get minimum contact. Changing speed helps keeps the batter off balance as well.He has no movement, so fuckin with something else can be costly since his curves hang.
Robinson- same as garrelts, but you can throw a regular fastball and cut it inside for a stirke or minimal contact as long as the batter is guessing hardfastball outside.

I take whatever side I feel is necessary to fool my opponent most.  I throw a lot of inside pitches so I usually take the away side of the rubber from the batter and then bring the ball back in.  Away, away, away is really the way to go but I tend to bust guys on the hands a lot...which usually leads to big trouble when the pitcher tires.

If I'm throwing off a real mound I take the right side of the rubber.

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

the dude either has some high float or a mess between the cheeks.

Depends on the pitcher, the batter, and the situation...

With a guy like Tudor you can keep him in the center, and work both sides...but can also fool opponents with the old "S"pitch...so he can play any side any time...

power pitchers (Ryan, Clemens, Gooden) can also be used anywhere even if their break isn't as heavy....the fastball moving outside, or inside can be deadly for a third strike....

But my advice in RBI baseball is this....Keep it on the outside corner.....dont get flashy and work across the plate....keep outside, and you'll get plenty of K's by using the fact that your opponent will start cheating to the inside of th box..then burn with a heater inside....But thats just how I pitch...I could be wrong...

I agree with Mclane, unlike most of the guys at Columbutt, I throw a ton of inside pitches mixed with many outside pitches, whereas most of them ONLY nibble on the outside corner.

Same goes for pitching off a mound, ALWAYS off the third base side, if I could get away with the Tom Glavine rubber (vice versa lefty/righty) I'd pitch from the third base base path.

I used Tudor llike that too as well as placing him opposite of a righty. Kept tudor on the inside part on lefties. good movement with a nasty bite on his curves. He is the best lefty. Vlnza is also up there with him, but he lacks that bite.

I tend to look inside first most of the time. I make the adjustment if the ball goes out or back in. Hand eye is crucial. Can't teach that. I use to always chart the players pitches on all counts, since many players are creatures of habit.

Completely random every time.  That way they can't figure you out.  Of course Im sure that I have some subtle consistencies.....

GoReds, Let me know if you have noticed any with me over the years.

To be honest, I've tried to catch some tendencies..and there aren't many....But pitching against you is either easy or impossible...because if I can get you guessing in the first or second inning, you generally get frustrated and guess for the entire game...especially if I get a run or two early...and once you start guessing, you are pretty much fucked...

BUT I DO think from time to time you burn your pitchers up a little quicker than you need to...this hurts you when you are playing with Cali mostly...but Detroit too....
