Seems pretty crazy that just a dozen years or so ago when I was in high school, if a kid had a cell phone in class they'd probably get it taken away and they'd either have to get it picked up after class or have a parent come in to get it (as punishment for the kid's dumb move of bringing a fkn cell phone to class with them).  Nowadays, I can imagine parents throwing a fit if their kid's phone gets taken away, and I can imagine a few lax teachers ruining it for the rest of the school by making it standard to just have a policy that the phone has to stay in their pocket (and not policing it when they inevitably take it out and fuck with it).
