I'm working an idea for a potential article on the Best Hitter and Pitcher in RBI baseball (Just the original game, not the sequels). We all have our favorites (Teams/Hitters/Pitchers), but I'm wondering if there is a consensus amongst us as to the BEST hitter and Pitcher. I'd love for y'all to chime in with your top 1-2 Hitters and pitchers. If a clear name for each (Hitter/Pitcher) doesn't emerge I'll turn to a poll and let the votes fall where they may. Thanks in advance.
And BOOM goes the Dynamite!

Hitter:

1)  Reggie Jackson
2)  Darrell Evans

Disclaimer - I don't play All-Stars much and I hit way better with lefties.

Pitcher:

1)  Nolan Ryan
2)  Roger Clemens

I like hard throwers with good breaks, I tend to get too cute with overly curvy guys.

VEGAS

Thanks Gantry!

And I cut and pasted from the FAQ to offer some more popular names to add to the discussion:

Hitters:
"...Reggie Jackson on California (aka Potatoes). Other possibilities are Darrell Evans on Detroit, Darryl Strawberry on New York, Jim Rice on Boston, Andre Dawson on the National League, and George Bell on the American League. "

Pitchers:
"...the best starters are those who have speed and endurance - meaning Roger Clemens, Dwight Gooden, and Nolan Ryan are all up there. As far as a curve-based game, the previous three are often mentioned along with Fernando Valenzuela, Bert Blyleven, John Tudor and, believe it or not, Mike Krukow"
And BOOM goes the Dynamite!

HITTERS: Andre Dawson and Tim Raines - Not really that sure that Raines is the "best", but he's by far my favorite player to have on my team, because he is the only player with elite speed who also has excellent power.

PITCHERS: Bert Blyleven and Fernando Valenzuela - Curveball uber alles.

Three of the four players are on the NL All-Stars.

Briznock

Hitter - Reggie Jackson

Pitcher - John Tudor (Also thought about using the only player in RBI baseball to inadvertently attend a Dee-Nee Fest, Danny Cox - but he really isn't good at all)

Tudor is a great call too, didn't use Stl all that much until recently (24 hours of RBI) but he is nails

fknmclane

Tudor is the fucking best.

The Raiders are a successful organization

Krukow has some nasty stuff, but man I suck pitching with him.

I'm ashamed of you.

Reggie is a real favorite, I wouldn't have thought that much of him.  Dawson is special along with Evans.

Nolan Ryan and Clemens are a couple favorite pitchers.
