Wondering why he was picked to the the Brewers representative for the All Star team.  He wasn't even the starting catcher on the Brewers.  In his 5 year career (up to that point), the most games he played in a season was 75.

If they really wanted a Brewers catcher, why not go with their actual starting catcher, BJ Surhoff, who was also a first overall pick in 1985.  Surhoff had a great rookie campaign in 1987, hitting .299 in 445 PA and only striking out 30 times.

I honestly find this one even weirder than Pedrique, since at least he served a team and positional need.

I would guess because of the only visible stats in the game, .332 + 14HRs is better than .299 + 7HRs

Plate appearances, strikeout %, even ABs don't have a bearing in RBI.

When you just look at AVG and HRs, Schroeder is the better pick.

Can he be both an All Star and a bench player at the same time?  A real Schroed(ing)er's cat situation.

Maybe the game designer was related to or friends with Bill's family.

The Brewers got some solid production from the catcher's spot in 1987

They really did, especially for the light hitting 80s
