I was reading "The Hangover" on ESPN's Page 2 today, and a reader emailed the writer to let him know that the word "teuful" is "devil" in German.

Could this be true?

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

Quite true, though it's pronounced "TOY-ful."

at .261, 10 hr, I have always felt that he was the bat that could break open a game for that Mets lineup.   Wally Backman was one of the worst plus .300 hitters in the game and that was all Teufel had for protection.  Myself, like many players I am sure, would pinch hit for Backman and Santana, which did not make for a steady situation surrounding Teufel, but he definitely had some power to the gaps....anyone agree???

I always had very good luck with Teufel in straight pitch, he has pretty good pop for that team.  I typically go with the triple sub for the Mets - HoJo at #2, Heep for Backman and Teufel at #8.  Sometimes I keep Mookie in the game and leave Heep on the bench.  But Timmy Two-Step typically plays a whole game...

Of course I lose 75% of the time I am the Mets in straight pitch, so don't look to me for strategy...

So, what would the Teufel Shuffle look like if it were a real celebration dance, a la the Ickey Shuffle?

I say something like this:

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

The problem with the post of the week thing or even the post of the month category is that fightonusc continually goes above and beyond everyone else with posts like the Teuful Shuffle.  Absolutely unbelievable.  Savage post.

Pinch hitting for Mookie is pure folly.

Mookie is a bag of ass, unless you work the Pettis with him...

Oooh, I get it--it's his only hope.  I often use the Pettis with Coleman.  I'm just sayin'.

Yeah, we call all those hits "The Pettis" - pretty much was the first guy I tried to use it consistently with.  But the greatness of Rob WIlfong could not be denied and I use it more with guys like Coleman...
