Most Brutal Pitch?

For curve players, what is your most brutal pitch to throw?? Mine has to be when using Tudor, moving all the way to the left side of the mound (left side of TV) when facing a righty, and then throwing a pitch that you completely hold down right from the beginning on... what typically happens is the righty batter backs off the plate a lil (either before the windup or during delivery) and then once he realizes its breaking away from him he rushes into the plate, and swings at a pitch that just misses the zone... If the batter doesn't move in towards the plate, then I have that split second to bring it back on the corner... granted Tudor can only do this early on in games, b/c this simply can't be thrown when tired.. but when he can do it, its lethal..

And one more thing, (i know this is getting long-winded, but I love the nuances of curve pitching) does anybody with intimate knowledge of the game's pitcher ratings know why Worrell's sinker is so damn fast? I mean he can throw the thing in the 80's, which can really really throw a batter off, considering nobody else's (that I use) sinker comes close to this speed... i don't get it, but i do love it

In straight, it's the willie hernandez fastball to lefties.  You spend every pitching thinking it's going to be a fastball and when it finally arrives you never time it right.  Fucker...

Tudor running the fastball in on the hands of a rightie is unstoppable.  Weak, jammed grounders to the right side are almost always the result.

Man, I don't know where to begin on this one.  I guess my answer is any pitch that the batter wasn't looking for.  I'm a huge fan of playing the "Greg Maddux" game--setting up pitches and next pitches and trying to out-guess the hitter.

I'd love to play against you someday, Oz...we seem to have the same theories, for the most part.

I love throwing a cut fastball against opposite handed batters.  If I'm Tudor, 90% of my pitches are outside...but every once in awhile, I love to bust the hitter inside--usually good for a strike and is always a good "next pitch" set up!

JoeDirt, there is nobody better to go into a true pitcher-hitter chessmatch with than Tudor... its awesome... my favorite moment is when I really have the hitter reeling, and i know what he is looking for, (based on my previous sequences) and throw the complete opposite, even if its very hitable... usually just being caught so off-guard, he either doesn't swing or weakly grounds out... I mean if somebody looked at the pitch in a vaccuum (not considering previous pitches, situation, etc) it would look like a meatball... but when you really are hitting your spots, and the hitter has to start guessing/hoping, you can make him look foolish with simplicity...

and the cut fastball is the best against opposite, b/c u just know the hitter is thinkin long ball when he first sees it out of the pitcher's hand...

True dat...BUT, it is very frustrating when you key in on an outside pitch and watch one groved right down the middle, when you're hitting!

nate loves the guys with lots of movement either way.  while im like dirt and primarily stay away, away, and away, nate will bring it  inside a lot.  however it can become just a guessing game to hit him, as i dont know if the initial meatball is going in or out.

ive learned to bail out towards the back of the box from time to time and try to catch some balls that didnt go far enuf inside and clock em out of the park.  i still think hes around the plate too much, and eventually it costs him, but he can make me look retarded.

i'll add that dudes with a very slow drop ball are tougher than shit to hit.  im always way out in front of those.

Joe Dirt. Hello! What do you think the pitchers think about games? Same theories? Give me a break. Pitching inside! No, that is never preached. Tudor gives me no serious problems, STL can't hit up and down, the speed demons suck, and I can just throw them out anyways. I move in the box and get the pitcher hitting when I am behind the joystick.

Sorry Darky, but per my usual, I don't know what the hell you're talking about.

I do know that I can beat you with StL vs any team...  :)

If you can play any D at all(as I assume most some around here can)then YES you can pitch inside.

Did somebody say you can't pitch inside?

I assumed that's what Darkie's jib was about(kinda hard to sort it all out though)

STL is very easy to shut out. Constant movement in the box as a hitter and gliding towards the pitch or with it if the ball breaks back inside is very important to countering some funky pitches. I am the best.
