I think the last time I played against an actual person was 12 years ago against my brother.

Does anyone else play against the computer and see how high they can rack up stats against it?

TβG

i play against the computer here at work, but don't keep stats.  i usually try to get through the other 9 teams during the whole day... passes the time.

I'll play against the computer like once a week or so, right now my goal is to throw a perfect game.  I rarely get to play actual people, maybe 5 games a year os so against a friend that is actually competitive with me.

I've given up on that damn perfect game thing... good luck because I can never get that 27th man out.

Right now, I am going for the 7 homer game.  I've gotten 6, but never 7.

EDIT:  That's 7 homers with one player

VEGAS

man I was beginning to feel like I was the only one who didn't have 9 buddies at his house every tuesday for a mini-series after that night's episode of "24." I play at home on NES about once a week (gasp) after my wife and son have gone to bed. Usually I'm good for 3-4 games but on rare occasion I just play and beat all teams. I've yet to lose against the computer--and I ain't that good. That's one reason why I don't play more. I do wish I had a real person to play against. A neighbor comes over every other week and we play-- but only RBI once and he quit with a 15-2 score after the first inning. Now we only play Tecmo Superbowl.

Is RBI too easy? Do we drink & play to help lower our ability to beat the computer every game?

ANyway, I'd be down for a west coast tourney.... I know we got some CA and AZ folks and I'm in NV (Vegas baby, Vegas). Maybe I can get Ceasar's to sponsor a mini tournament?   :P
And BOOM goes the Dynamite!

If we had an RBI tournament at Caeser's I'd have to kill myself with joy.

I could easily organize a tournament on Phoenix.  Off the top of my head, 8 guys from here.  That's not a lot, but enough I think.

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

First of all 24 is the god of all televisions shows.
Second I will be at Caesars for the tourney.
Third I do not live near my buddies anymore so must play the computer but I only play as Ho or Am vs. Dt, Bo, or Na.  Need a little challenge.

me and a couple friends go to phoenix every year for a weekend of spring training.... but i'm based in orange county.  i think i might be willing to travel but i know nothings set yet.   i nominate fmcklane for RBI west coast commissioner.

I mostly am stuck playing the computer, as I live far away from my old RBI buddy and can't get my wife to play.  I usually play using modified ROMs for a little variety, using bad teams against good teams.

Teddy is onto something there.  A dee nee spring training trip and an RBI tournament with just the right amount of boozing mixed in.

Beef, I think we are in the same boat.  I have also tried to get my wife to play.  Doesn't work.

This thread makes me think I should really start pushing Internet play.  There are quite a few people out there that would love to play against others on the Internet.  In fact, I wouldn't mind playing some of you guys to work on my curve skills.  With everyone out of the Dee-Nee house, I only get a couple games a month in.  Unacceptable...

i forgot to mention that i am a computer retard. What settings in the fce ultra need to be set and stuff?

japetus462

I would love to play people online...but I still can't figure out how to set it all up. I have a fast connection so I dont think lag would be a problem.

Because I have no live people to play RBI against, I have made "impossible" challenges for myself.  This gives me a goal beyond winning the game.  My latest goal has been to hit a home run (wallzie, over the wall, but no inside the park), from every slot in the line up.  I have had 7 out of 9 slots several times and 8 out of 9 in the same game once, but always seem to come up a bit short.

My goal is to do this with California.  To date, Doug DeCenses has been my achilles heel in getting the dinger from each slot (no, i'm not claiming a pitcher homer.  I use a sub to get the homer from the 9 spot).  He usually is consistent, but when I am getting close to the 9, he chokes!

I also play sometimes where I try to "mercy rule" all of the teams by a certain inning, using only straight pitch to the computer, and using my relievers as starters.

Baines

I used to always have to play the computer until probably the past year.  At my friends house there's always about 10 people over on weekends and we would play system link Halo with TVs in 3 or four different rooms.  Then one day we broke out the NES and introduced the younger guys to RBI and we've had plenty of competition ever since.  That's a big reason why we play straight pitch so we can always get new players.  Any new player will get slaughtered in an inning or 2 trying to play curve with any of us who have played for 15 years but straight pitch has given a lot of new guys a chance to pick it up and be competetive after a week or two.

Baines may have hit a homer with Baines, yelled Baines and immediately changed into a Baines jersey.

You know who's the best? Baines...

I have got to get in on Baines' parties.

If you ever visit your family in Cincy let me know and we'll work somethin out.

I don't know what it is but there are really quite a few RBI players here for it being a shitty little town.  Actually the craziest thing happened tonight when Spike_Owen#1 and I were at the gym, we found out that some of the guys we play basketball with play RBI all the time too.  The subject of old NES games came up and it was actually them that asked if we ever played RBI.
