Is there an editor for this? Or how hard would it be to vhange the RBI Editor to an RBI 3 Editor?

Shhh.  RBI 3 is unpopular here; I'm one of the few who likes it at all, much less at the level of the original.  As far as the editor, it wouldn't be a huge job to modify an editor, but I haven't done enough looking at the code to see what would need to be done.  I have taken a look through the ROM data and found where some of the info is stored (the division winners' hitters are first, starting with the '89 Blue Jays), but that's about it.

I've done some Googling, and from what I've seen, there isn't much of an RBI 3 community, and I don't believe there's an editor already waiting somewhere.

Well, if there were an editor, I'd probably make about a million teams for it in various ROMs, because I'm a huge fan of RBI3.
I don't really know enough to hack into the gamne and make an editor, but if you get anywhere with it, I'd definitely produce some ROMs for it.

I like the original RBI, but part 3 has a special place in my heart!!  ;D

Hey!  I like Baseball Stars, too!

Next thing you know, you'll be ragging on Baseball Simulator 1.000...

This topic comes up every couple months on the forum. I've browsed through the code, and the data storage is remarkably similar to RBI. The biggest change would probably be dealing with each team having multiple years of rosters.

Well.....? I found this http://softerhosting.com/rbi/list.php?sdf but...... nothing else is there a way to edit the fields and save?

Turd

Alright, you are obviously a fan of the game, and I'd like to help you out, but I don't have time right now.

That said, I looked at that site and I didn't see a way to edit and save...but that list does list the offsets for each team, so it wouldn't be hard to figure out the layout of the data...

You could then make a spreadsheet that spit out the hex values, and then use my Tecmo Bowl editor (which has a hex setter function) to write the hex to the ROM...

It's not ideal, but it would work and not require any existing coding...

PreDeadMan

hm... well i'm clueless to all of that hex stuff looks like i'm screwed hm like i said if anyone has it or can make one i'll pay them whatever then

Way to awaken an 8 year old thread  :D

Anyway, it's good for me.  That page you are referring to is mine.  I have an editor that you can use, but it's not public 'cause I don't have much time to maintain one and there wasn't too much interest at the time I created it.  If you message me, I can set you up with your own online editor.  If I see more interest, I may make one that is a little more self-managed, almost like the nightwulf one for RBI.

Of course, if you're familiar with PHP, the editor is open source (though there are a few rough edges and not much documentation) at
https://github.com/pmeth/rbi

If you ignore everything else, there is a folder called v1, which is the original version before I rebuilt it.  It should be fully functional.  Just drop it onto a PHP web server and put your ROM file in the same directory (also make it writeable) with the name rbi2008.nes.

I tried to figure it out... but I failed...

i'm clueless as far as getting it to work lol... ::sighs:: I know i'll get bashed on here for saying I like rbi baseball 3 more than the original I just wish i had the editor for the third one :| don't get me wrong i still play the original i just prefer the 3rd.

Turd

You probably won't get bashed too bad, you just probably won't get as much love...I'm a longtime lover of the SNES TSB1 and original Tecmo Bowl versions, and I hang out at the Tecmo repository a lot...I fought long and hard to get those games some love...thankfully the hacking community over there is pretty active and we were able to get stuff done.  There are really only a few people even here who still care about RBI in terms of modding it...

Thats because we're busy discussing midget pornos.
