Julio in the Hall?

If Julio ever retires, should he be elected to the hall?

I don't think he has the raw stats to get more than a handful of votes.  If he plays until 50, a feat haven't seen in a REALLY long time (Paige?) then perhaps he'll get a small amount of consideration.  But it is very unlikely unless he wins a batting title or two before he retires...

He currently has 2457 career hits (99 last year) with a .300 career batting avg.  If he really plays 5 more years (then he will be 50) and averages 110 hits/yr while maintaining a .295 career average, he would have 3000 hits.  I think you got to put him in the HOF.

Does 3000 hits mean HOF? I know 500 Hr's does, but its not the same, especially when you play 36 years in the majors.

This is tought to argue.  And if he can miraculously rip off 3000 hits, the guy is a fucking lock.

I think Julio deserves to be in the HOF if he plays another 3-5 years, regardless of whether or not he hits 3000.  He resurrected his career in the late 90s at the age of 40 after bumming around the mexican league for a while.  We will probably never see another player playing this well at age 45+ ever again.  And in reality he might even be older.  I think there is something to be said for a guy who just goes out and plays until its just goddam impossible for him to run, catch, or swing.  Its in stark contrast to most guys who want to go out 'honorably' or right after winning a championship.  Julio goes out there and quitely puts up the numbers.  Nobody really cares, but hes still plugging ... playing better than most guys in the league that are half his age.  Julio plays because he loves the game.  I think his career and the example he sets is worth remembering.  
It would be a bronze plaque worth reading, which is more than one can say for many of the uninteresting shmos that have been enshired.

Complete speculation, sure--but if I had to guess, I'd guess Julio is juiced, too.  He probably got it with/from Sheffield in Atlanta...

...that would change things.  AND more importantly, that'd grow the known RBI steroid users to three:

No way.  Someone like Al "Scoop" Oliver would be more deserving...and he ain't getting in (and he has closer to 2,800 hits and he wore zero as a number).  You can't get better than that.
