can someone briefly explain what this fantasy league is all about?  thanks

fightonusc

Basically, eight of us drafted teams based on the players from the game. Thanks to Nightwulf's RBI Editor, we can make ROMs with each drafted team, and simulate games in Watch mode. As commissioner, I simulate the games, write up stats and a recap, and make a video of the game that everyone else can watch later. We're currently in week 10 of 14, with playoffs to follow for the top 4 teams.

Gantry gave me space for a Web site, which probably doesn't explain it as well as it should, but you can get the idea: http://fantasyrbi.rbicentral.com/

Great game by the new acquisition, I knew Bert just needed some love.

man, i'd love to get in on this when next season starts.

comments on draft- gedman, madlock, boone, laudner were taken WAY too high.

i guess i can understand why pitchers were taken so low (computer plays games).  if this were a "real" league where we were playing out the games, i would take pitchers a lot higher.

fightonusc

- Since each team needed a catcher in the starting line-up, you didn't want to get stuck with having to start Tony Pena if you didn't have to...also, I would argue that looking at the stats, Gedman was drafted just fine where he was.

- Bert was untouchable today. My season is pretty much toast at this point - I don't understand how the whole team could just decide to stop hitting after, like, Week 5 (Ripken and Brookens excluded). I'm very, very disappointed in Darryl...

Game Summary:

Apparently, it was a change of scenary that was needed. Making his first start since being traded from The Poopydicks, Bert Blyleven pitched a complete game to lead The Nimrods to a 14-7 victory over The Creamy Pirates in a Fantasy RBI League game played Tuesday afternoon at Tengen Stadium.

The victory broke a two-game losing streak for The Nimrods (7-3), who moved a half-game ahead of The Stiffs for the league lead. Tom Brunansky and Tim Laudner each homered twice, while Andre Dawson continued his torrid hitting pace by going 5-for-5, including a first-inning home run.

The Creamy Pirates (3-7) continued to freefall, dropping their fifth straight game. They managed only seven runs despite collecting 17 hits. However, they stranded seven runners and hit into two double plays. Tom Brookens was the lone offensive star for the Creamy Pirates, hitting two home runs and driving in three.

Note that each team had to have 1 C 3 OF and 4 IF so Catchers were at somewhat of a premium and there aren't as many big hitting IFs as there are OFs

What a game by Bertus, mclane you drunken fool!

To be fair, Herbert had, like, a plus-23.00 ERA going into the game, I think. Trust me, my sorry-assed offense could make Bruce Hurst look like Cy Young...

And it was bad timing for USC, having to face Bert the week he goes out with something to prove, all the media coverage of this start, the Nimrod fans were looking for any change from the Hefty Mexican who had been struggling, they will be embracing Bert this week.

In fact, I think that was written into Bert's contract, that after every "quality start" he gets to be embraced by the fans. With his privates...

drugs stranding a pair bottom 2 killed you.

fightonusc

Let's see...

Bottom of the 1st:

Molitor is tagged out going to third with two outs. The top of the second starts with a Brookens HR, which would have been a three-run shot if Molitor hadn't ended the last inning...

Bottom of the 2nd:

Two on with one out and I get a pop out (Molitor) and a strike out (Darryl)

Bottom of the 3rd and 4th:

Inning-ending double plays.

Story of my season...

Brookens would have been pitched to differently with men on so you can't assume he would have done same thing.  Molly going to third with two outs is a bad play though regardless.  I'd like to see the play but I am worried if I try to download the video I am going to crash my company's network.  Did he try to go first to third on a single to center?

fightonusc

First to third on a single to left center. He was out by at least five RBI feet.

In Watch games, the pitcher doesn't throw to a player any differently with men on than with no one on. Trust me, TB was hitting that home run no matter what.

(If you just open the link to each video clip, it should stream to your computer instead of having to download the whole thing...)

I'm also very interested in signing up on the next season, if there's room for another.
I've been swimming in raw sewage ... I love it
