Hello.  I have been an avid RBI'er for about 5 years now.  My team is the angels.  I hearby challenge each and every one of you to play.  I will beat you.  I can beat anyone.  Anyone who has ever challenged me has been defeated.  I was looking at some of your records...impossible.  Which leads me to assume that you just pipe the ball every time and don't use the games pitching asset correctly.  Maybe I'm wrong, and if those records are without throwing the ball right down the middle, then that's fucking incredible.  I love your site, and you guys all seem pretty cool, and into good music, too.  Anyway...even though it might not ever happen, I have some friends who are also very good, and maybe we could all get together and settle this "champion" shit.   :)  Take care guys, keep up the good work with the site.

Welcome Noah!   And yes the all the feats on the Records Page are played with straight pitch, unless marked.  Grant you we can move on the mound but still a straight pitch...

If you want some curve comp, look up Mike Beales (aka smokedubad) as he throws a bi-annual tourney.  The last one just took place with players from Ohio, TN, etc coming to play.  Here is the link to his page:

And Beales will seek out a challenge.  He lives in Chicago, but has driven to Texas and New York just to play RBI...

...I am speaking of the original NES version, forgot to mention that.

You don't have to worry about that, as most here are stictly die-hards of the original NES version.  Not too many RBI 2/3 fans, though there are a few.  Some arcade RBI fans as well, but just about everyone on this site enjoys the original RBI best...

...I wish I could play in his tournament, and win it.  Too bad I am all the way in California!  Have you ever played that guy?

Gantry

I went to the tourney but didn't play, as I am the straight pitch guy who runs the site.  He came in 4th but is a damn fine player who would smoke me.  Where in Cali do you live?  fightonusc from this forum created a yahoo group for Cali RBI players...

Noah G.

I live in Northern California...Redding.  I would love to play some other people.  I'm tired of stomping my friends!  ;D

Noah G.

Wow, thanks man.  You're very helpful.  My friends and I play straight pitch games sometimes, too.  We call them "pipe-games," as in "piping" the ball right down the middle.  My friend Josh and I played one game where he hit 25 homers with Detroit.  It was outrageous.

Gantry

Glad to help Noah...  Be sure and register to the site and keep on posting!  You know your RBI and we love new members.  Being from chicago, how far is Redding from where the other guys on the west coast RBI scene?

Signing up for yahoo is free...  But let me find some old posts.  I'll edit this post, give me a sec...

Here is fightonusc's post about the group, he mentions SoCal though.  Not sure where Echo Park is:

If you click on fightonusc's name, you can send him a PM (Private Message) which he can check next time he logs on.  But I'm sure he'll see this thread and chime on tomorrow, he's on everyday..

Gantry

No problem Noah, good to have you.   Definitely get in touch with fightonusc and schedule a game of RBI next time you are in LA visitng your girlfriend.  He is the man to talk to, hopefully he'll get a good # of RBI'ers getting together regularly...

Thank God!

I also live in Northern California (in the Bay Area, though), and it's been almost impossible for me to find decent human competitors. Basically, I've beaten or come close to most of the records you see here, but mostly against the computer, since there's no one around who knows how to play.

The computer plays curve style, so that's what I play; straight-pitch is almost unknown.

So anyway, if you're ever in the Bay Area, I'd love to finally play a real opponent, as I don't know of any actual RBI leagues in this state, except the aforementioned one in L.A.  I don't make it up to the far north, but if you're on your way down to S.F., let's play, for God's sake! The beer will be on me.

I'd like to make a friendly wager if you're quite sure you're the best... I'll bet you $25 you don't take a top 3 spot in our next COTUT (pending our roster, of course).

Well, I'm all for this also. I mean, it's not like I'd drive for hours just to play RBI baseball... but if we happen to be in the same area for a while, I'd love to get some real games in. Let me know if you're ever going to be down here; I usually check this board every couple days.

I also like the idea of the COTUT... If the entry fee ends up being $100, the chance to win a grand would be a good incentive to take a vacation to Chicago, especially since I know a guy who lives there and can sometimes get free plane tickets. Well, we'll see if I'm cut out for it; I really don't know, since I haven't played anyone good in a looong time. I could beat you all 68-0, or I could get slaughtered in the first every time. I honestly don't have enough information to know which.

JoeDirt

Trust me guys, the COTUT is well worth the time it takes to get to it.

It was extremely intense and extremely fun.

The OH Contingency is considering conduction of an OH COTUT next summer--both of you will be invited.

Please email your contract info to me and to SmokedUBad, so we can be sure to get any and all info out to you!

The dee nee tard mixed in with gantry looks a little bit like TBT

joshua

actually noah has slightly mislead some of you.....

basically, I am the WORLDS GREATEST RBI player to have ever walked the face of the earth.

noah is very good, don't get me wrong.  he can kick mass amounts of ass with witt, jackson and the rest of the angels.
but when it comes to my relentless barrage of sluggers a.k.a., the detroit tigers, he doesn't have a chance.  i sometimes allow him the honour and privledge of attempting to beat me just to make him feel better, but he always seems to end up curled in a ball blubbering like a baby who needs to be fed.

i'm awesome.
