OK, I thought it would be a good idea to have one thread for all of the pre-draft questions, and to get the draft scheduled.

- Last season's stats are still located at the Web site at http://fantasyrbi.rbicentral.com/FantasyRBI/FantasyRBIStats.html. It is as good of a source as any in terms of research for how players do in Watch mode over the course of a season.

- Last season we only required that a team's starting line-up had four IFs, three OFs and one C. For this season, do we want to keep that, or do we want to be position-specific (i.e. you must have a 1B, 2B, SS, etc.)?

- There will be five games each week, involving all ten teams. Last week's season was 14 games, and if we did  this season like that (each team plays once home and away) then we'd have an 18-week regular season, which is really fucking long.

I'm going to recommend that we instead break the League up into two leagues (we can come up for funny names for them, like the Gantry League and the Doverbi League) of five teams each. You play each team within your League twice (once home and once away) and the four teams outside of your League once (either home or away). This gives us a 12-game regular season. We can do an all-star game between Leagues as well.

- The playoffs would take the top four teams in each League, who would play each other until we have two League Champions, who would play each other in the World Series.

Does this make sense to everyone? Comments?

When are you guys available to do the draft? Does Friday work for everyone?

Divisions are fine

Either way with the 4 IF, 3OF or position specific is fine, obviously 2 SP, 2 RP

4/5 teams per division seems like a lot of playoff teams, what about 3/5 with #1 getting a bye?

I can draft Friday, I'd still prefer to do through the forums rather than chat (I think forums would work as long as we pick a time when we are all here or use all day Friday to do), but can do chat too.

We will have to look into positions for reserves again.

i believe i posted a zip of all the positions last year.  fighton, any word on how many players we can keep on our existing rosters?  did you make a decision on that?

I haven't made a decision yet. I'd like to hear feedback from others on this: should we allow each returning team to have one "keeper" from the previous season, or should we just make everyone else draft from scratch?

- We could also do just the top two teams in the League, making it 2/5. I would be OK with this, as it makes it more prestigious to make it into the playoffs, and not like the NHL/MLS, where basically everyone goes.

- I tried to search for the list of players and positions that we used last season - I'll try again to find it.

I think it should be a draft from scratch, but really have no problem keeping Andre.

i actually think the existing teams should keep more players.  this will also help the draft go faster.  what if we kept 5 players?  only one can be a pitcher.  i think that's good and you still have a lot of very good players available.

That would be extemely unfair for new players, essentially you'd be taking 30 of the top 40 players out of the draft

ok then, 4 players?  i want to keep some part of my team.  what is this a players league?  i thought we owners could tell our players what to do?  i want reserve clauses, gentlemen's agreements and no names on the back of the uniforms!

posted below is an excell spreadsheet with columns added to show the field IF of OF and the actual position that player was at for most games in their RBI year.  please feel free to challenge any inaccuracies.

I don't see the attachment.

I think that part of the fun of the draft is figuring out where the big names go. If the draft consists of Pat Sheridan being the first player drafted, I think it loses its appeal.

So, I'm going to say that we start fresh, with no held over players. However, we'll base the draft order to reward the teams that finished higher in the playoffs/regular season last year and make the new players draft last. So you'll get to draft first and take hJorge Bell, Teddy.

i want my pitcher too.  how about we keep one infielder, one outfielder, and one pitcher?  that's only three.  throw me a fricken bone here.  don't make me start a federal league on you!

jk, IFF?

I am against keepers.  I see no reason we should handicap new members of the league.

BeefMaster

Forgot to add to the last post: I think we should go with the 3 OF, 4 IF, 1 C starting lineup, rather than going by position.  It gives us a bit more freedom in putting together the roster, and makes Alan Trammell a bit less dominant.

I'll be in. Does this mean I have to do something?

This has been changed recently to a statement about it being changed.

I'd like to be in on this, if possible.

Thanks.

Sorry Bastardo, I don't think we're cool enough to be part of their special club. They're going to be off giving blowjobs for grilled cheeses with tomato anyway. Tomato soup, sure, but never for just a damn tomato on their sandwich.

Hey, count me in.  We all know you kept a spot open for me and secretly hid it from BDawk.

No keepers.  I know I'm biased, but even if I was a returning owner, I would feel confident enough to kick ass without an added advantage.  Anybody who thinks they are entitled to a keeper is afraid of getting ass raped by my team.

Will this be a snake/wraparound draft?

Friday is OK with me, but not Friday evening...have a big poker game.
