Recap:

The Poopydicks got to Unholy Legions of Doom reliever Jack Morris early and often on Thursday, turning a tense pitchers duel with a seven-run outburst to propel them to a season-opening 10-4 victory before an enthusiastic crowd at Tengen Field.

The Unholy Legions of Doom held a 3-2 lead when starting pitcher Mike Witt exited the game at the top of the fifth inning for Morris. The Poopydicks' starter Bruce Hurst greeted Morris with a triple, opening the floodgates for a three-run inning. The Poopydicks scored four more times in the sixth inning to put the game away.

Hurst picked up the win while Mike Krukow gave up only one run in four innings of relief work. The Unholy Legions of Doom managed just four runs despite matching The Poopydicks with 15 hits. Jose Canseco was 3-for-5 with a home run, while driving in two and scoring two.

Krukow should be awarded a save, I don't think that software properly records saves.

I suppose that he should, since it was less than a three-run game when Krukow entered the game. You have to enter saves manually with this software, so I'll fix it in the stats.

Any time you pitch the last 3 innings of a game you are eligible for a save regardless of how much you lead by when you enter the game.

1-0 bitches.  Nice start to the season.  I'm a little concerned with Donnie Baseball and his 0fer but I'm sure he was just a bit jittery.  Perhaps the mustache isn't in full effect just yet.

My SABRmetrics ranked him as the 3rd best starting pitcher last season, but I think these things are able to yield wide swings.
