The Raiders are a successful organization

cub bias aside, Dawson is boderline, but he's a HoF in my opinion.

his stats are very misleading, but i'm sure that's what the article talks about.

BDawk

When he was playing, I never thought of him as Hall of Fame material. I think the Hall should be more selective. Maybe I should decide

BeeJay

I think everyone should be in the hall of fame.  It's not fair to exclude guys just because they batted .225 for their career.  They tried hard too.
"Thank you Mr. Toilet Bowl..thank you for being cool on the side...you're the only one that understands me."

Oil Can Boyd and Jerry Dybinski will get in, you gotta read the stats the right way...

Gerlost

I say that Dawson should only get in if he gets 100 replies.

Andre Dawson, Fred McGriff, Dale Murphy...all great hitters in their day...all not going into the HOF.

RedBarron

Dawson is one of only 3 players who have 300 hrs and 300 steals.

If the fine folks in montreal could grow grass, he'd have 400 / 400.

Pretty good stats in two categories isn't enough to make the Hall of Fame.  Maybe if he were 500/300.

RedBarron

Pretty good stats that only 2 other guys have been able to accumulate.

Those bill james baseball-reference indicators seem to think Andre is a Hall of Famer.

Oil Can Boyd once threw a no-hitter against the female all-star baseball team.
He gets in!

unless the one hit came from a bull dyke, I can't cast a "yes" vote.

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

That's OK Ryno.  Dyslexia is a condition among the best of us.

Congrats Nomaaa.  Dee-Nee's new Sandwich King.

Metal King

Oh, I just want to say hi to everyone here (this is my 2nd post).  I've forgotten about the forums since I've been coming here,  and I just remembered, so I registered, so here I am!  I'm 27, from Michigan btw, just for the record.

And to correct someone's earlier post here,  there are four players with 300 homers / 300 steals:

Willie Mays
Andre Dawson
Bobby Bonds
Barry Bonds

And in 2006,  there could be two more guys added to the list.

Steve Finley has 297 homers and 313 steals (he should have enough oomph to hit 3 more measly homers).

Reggie Sanders has 292 homers and 297 steals,  shouldn't be a problem.

Other than those two,  the closest guys are:
Craig Biggio, - 260 hr, 407 sb
Raul Mondesi, - 271 hr, 229 sb (might not get it)
Alex Rodriguez - 429 hr, 226 sb
Gary Sheffield - 449 hr, 215 sb (probably won't get it)
Sammy Sosa - 588 hr, 234 sb (no chance)
Larry Walker - 383 hr, 230 sb (nope)
Marquis Grissom - 227 hr, 429 sb (probably not)
Jeff Bagwell - 449 hr, 202 sb (forget it)

Just call me "Mr.  Stat"

Dryden

And the significance of getting to 300 HR/300 SB is...  what, exactly?
dee-nee i love you because
