The 2006 HOF's are announced today at 2 pm (ET).

I have a good feeling this will be Jim "RBI" Rice's day. After years of letter writing and protesting...JR might finally be getting what he deserves...to go into the HOF!!!!

If he is picked, I will be back here with some beer fueled commentary.

As a Cards fan are you just as jazzed about the possibility of Sutter entering the Hall?

There seems to be 5 guys (Rice, Blyleven, Gossage, Dawson, Sutter) that will probably get over 50% in votes, but still not sure if any will get 75%.  Although Blyleven and Rice would be the favourites, I think.

I still don't know where I stand on relivers going into the HOF....as great of a pitcher Sutter was...300 saves...It's still hard to pick him over a Blyleven or Rice.

Attezz

No chance Jim Rice gets into the hall of fame, if he does it'll be a travesty.

1:30 left.

sorry for asking guys, but is this who will be on the ballot or who will be in the hall?

The Raiders are a successful organization

Sorry JR. Congrats Bruce Sutter!!!

Well another Arcade RBIer is in the Hall, we'll have to wait to see how close Rice, Dawson, and Blyleven got.

Darn, I think this was Blyleven's best shot to get in:

Story should be filling in as time goes by...

japetus462

Well, this was Rice/Blylevens last hope...unless the Vet's committee votes him in....

Next year is Gwynn/Mcgwire/Ripken...

I have a feeling Rice came really close though.

RedBarron

McGwire may not get in the first time around.

The steriod thing may hurt him, big time.  Much to my surprise, his HOF Monitor stats (on Baseball-reference) aren't nearly as high as I thought they'd be.

JerryD

Those voters are fucking idiots.

RedBarron

Blyleven and Rice were by far the most deserving.

I'd vote for Dawson before Sutter (if I had to choose between the two).

Which cap do you think Sutter's plaque will have?  An argument could be made for the cubs or the cards --- insane stats with the cubs and a WS title with the cards.

japetus462

That's a good question...when he was back in St.Louis for the closing of Busch, if he was ever put in the HOF he would go in as a Cardinal. But, he could have just been saying that caught up in the moment.

He won a Cy Young with the Cubs...a WS with the Cards....it's probably 50/50.

Gantry

I would have to say the Cardinals are a big favorite for the hat...

He no longer gets to decide, HOF will decide

Even though Jim Rice will never be in the MLB Hall Of Fame...he is cemented for time in the RBI Hall Of Fame, and..Hall of Shame.
