Hey guys we all know that some fun of watching a basebll game can be the "game within the game".  The pitcher and batter, the shortstop trying to get the runner to retreat to second....

So here's the question:  Do you have any "games within the game" that you play in RBI either against the computer or against opponents that make it more exciting to play?

One thing I do is after the firstbaseman makes a putout i quickly make him run home but then throw back towards first so the right fielder can try to field the ball.  (Only do this with nobody on base -- duh).  It's actually pretty hard to do because the computer goes to the next batter but occasionally you CAN do it!

I know it's lame but have any of you come up with your own "Games Within the Game?

edit: i don't know what that drunk guy was talking about...

Also on putouts at first you can run to 2nd and throw to first, If you hit the wall you get an error, sometimes I see how many errors I can get.

That's bizzare--I've done that too.

After a putout at first I throw the third and try to have the pitcher catch it.  Also, teddy... are you aware that you employed the word "duh" in your post?  I suggest that you have your head examined.

The whole throw-out to first base and then throw to the wall is a staple of our games.
We play errors for drinks.  If you throw out a guy at first, the first basemen must run towards second and then throw to first.  The ball hits the wall and counts for an error.  Whoever has the most wins the drinking for that stat.
It's actually an integral part of our RBI experience.  We woudn't know what else to do after an out.

I've always thrown the ball towards the wall with the first baseman also. Bizarre that everyone does this, and dee-nee certainly wasn't around when I started playing.

That's it; I'm opening up the ROM again and looking for subliminal messages~

Every put-out to first is followed by a throw to the third baseman...the goal is to have him catch it before the computer goes to the next batter....I'm not sure why I do it, but a good result is that I can now throw some serious heat.

I just throw it around the horn when I make a putout.  Depending on how good and quick a throw I make, the second baseman can sometimes release the throw to third before the screen goes back to the batter.  The exception is when I make the third out, in which case I have the fielder run to the most distant base, like he's running to the dugout.

Speaking of running to the dugout... does it chap anyone else's hide that RBI players can cry and run about a thousand miles an hour to the dugout after getting out, but can't muster that kind of speed in a game?  That pisses me off.

Sort of on topic with this thread, I also wonder what people do in order to have any reason to play a one player game.  My most recent goal is to pitch a 9 inning perfect game against an All Star team without striking anyone out.  I just pitched a 4 hitter against the NL and I think 3 of the 4 hits should have been caught, but I'm pretty rusty.  Anyhow I think it is possible but quite a bit of luck will be involved

Problem with RBI goals is that against the computer the game generally last 1 to 2 innings.

Well, you have to stop playing offense when you get to 9

Has anyone ever tried to play 2 player by yourself and to play as hard as you can for both teams... that thought just struck me.  I think I am going to try it but I think it's going to end up feeling like you are Jim Abbot.

I actually did this when I was a kid and kept everyones stats, but I can't remeber how I did it.  I must have done straight pitch and then swung and then fielded, but I'm not sure how I ran the bases

It's weird that everyone has the firstbaseman throw the ball away after a putout.  We always throw the ball into the outfield, and occasionally have the right fielder catch it before the screen switches.
What a horrible night to have a curse.

its hard to make today's players hustle down the 1st baseline.

Like Pete Rose, maybe?

exactly.  Rose embodied what a baseball player should be.  Too bad he flushed it down the toliet.

doveRBI

speaking of hustle... what if rbi had been designed to work in conjuction with the power pad.  i know if that were the case i would throw up a lot.  that is something to think about.

fknmclane

The power pad never worked.  But if it did, I too would be yakking while RBIing.
