The Outsiders

Big time hitter. Forget the numbers. Bottom line he hit when it mattered most.

Opps! Strikeout.

Gantry

This is pretty awful news, makes me think twice about the RBI Dead Pool.  Strokes are very bad, even if he comes out successfully after medical care.  Best of wishes to Puckett...

BDawk

The only problem is, Kirby is kind of a scumbag. It's easier to feel badly for a guy like dale murphy

OctoFranco

And then there were 158...

I feel like such a ghoul for the death poll.  This really is tragic, guys...

I hope to at least be able to provide some minor tribute with a contribution to his database page...

Gantry

Wow...  I think it might be time to put a moratorium on the Dead Pool, I feel terrible...

Reds

I dont so much feel bad, because he was leazy...and I still like the death pool.

Really a shock, happened so fast and I never felt he was sleazy, not that now is the time to discuss that.

I hate to say this...but he passed away. What a shame, as he was a good 2-3-4 behind Gary "GAR!!!" Gaetti and Kent "HR Bek" Hrbek. You think I'm kidding? Here's the news about him:

1961-2006 Kirby Puckett. You will be missed...  :'(

Why would we think you are kidding when there has already been 4 posts in this thread about it

No, about his passing. It's a shame he died, as he'd blast the crap out of any team in RBI (I'm very damn good with powerful righty hitters)

I don't know...maybe it's been so long since I've seen the "skinny" version that was Puckett.

On our favorite baseball stats site and on an '88 Donruss card, it has '61.  Most web sites seem to have '60.

They said that the Hall of Fame did some recent research and found his actual birthdate to be 1960.

who won?

Nobody picked him, although Nails tried to after Puckett had the stroke.

I actually had a message on my answering machine last night from my aunt in St. Paul with the news (although I'd heard it on the radio in the car on the way home).  All my MLB games have been Twins games, and Kirby is one of the few Hall of Famers I have seen in person.  This is sad news (even after the stuff in '03, he was well-liked in Minnesota), and I think we should all play a game of RBI as the Twins in his honor.
