Pedriqrules brought up a good point on the other thread - where would you rank the RBI All-Star teams?  I have no idea where to put them because we play with them so infrequently.  Looking at the rosters, I can't put them above the Tigers in straight pitch.  You guys would be the experts on the topic, what do you think?

It would be hard to deny those two teams with all the power numbers, and they do have solid pitching. They have got to be above Dt.

in straight pitch i would put them above the tigers.. in curve style... no way...  they do not hit like their numbers indicate.  the tigers and red sox are better in this style.

My roommate and I play with the all stars frequently, and I personally prefer both boston and detroit to the american league allstars.  al all stars have 2 unbelievable players (mcgwire, bell) 2 good players (mattingly, canseco) and everyone else sucks.  The crappy thing about al all stars is that all of their good players are congested at the start of the lineup, so unless you sub mcgwire at the bottom of the lineup, you have a stretch of shitty guys like ripken, brett, the seven hitter (can't think of his name), shroeder, and the pitcher.  And that's like 5 almost definite outs.  plus, everyone else on the al bench sucks.   and the al pitching staff leaves much to be desired.  saberhagen is good, but runs out of juice quickly, and henke and the other closer aren't antyhing special.

nl all stars, on the other hand, are loaded.  Their bench is unreal, with murphy (one of the most underrated players in the game), guerrero, and two lefties=gwynn and kruk.  Plus they have dawson, eric davis, mike schmidit, and raines, who I think is the best leadoff hitter in the game.  And venenzuala has nasty shit.  steve bedrosean is a pimp as the closer as well.

nl all stars are far and away the best team in the game, but boston and probably detriot (although their pitching is pretty bad) are both better then the al all stars.

Potsie and I played our first All-Star game in months last night.  I got my ass kicked, though I somehow managed to go nine innings.  Raines & Gwynn went 0-10 for me, though I'll take that as an anomoly...

I saw quite a bit of punch from both teams, and I think they are probably better than Detroit.  Potsie was hitting dingers with everyone in the lineup but Seitzen (who he subbed in first).  I was crushing with Eric Davis and Gurrero.  Saberhagen is a very strange pitcher to hit in straight pitch, not used to that outside pitch on the right-hand side...

All in all, I would say they are both top teams in straight pitch.  More research would need to be done, but I think they can be 1-2...

id say that the NL stars are the best team in the game...and i love my tigers, but those guys can flat out hit...top to bottom, power out of everyone (except for gwynn) and they can pitch too....fernando has the best action in the game...hands down....they are only there for exhibition, but they are the best...AL can play too...but id put them in this order

NL
Detroit
Cali
AL
Boston
Minnesota
San Fran
New York
St Louis
Houston

hey bban...you might want to check your computer cause  i think it is sending out viruses... i get mail(124  mb's) from you daily but i immediately delete it...

as for the all stars...  i love timmy raines...  he is solid and unlike other speedsters... he knows his role and hits it on the ground.

TGwynn, the best hitter of our generation got the shaft from the programmers at tengen.  the guy pops up all the time...

freddy valenzuela is nasty... he has the best movement in the game...  dawson is a beast,  murphy is a pimp, and pedro the cokehead is solid in the bottom of the lineup.

uno heuvo kruk is a lock at short for pedriq...  he hits line drives all day.

i think sandberg is underrated and has earned playing time...  santiago goes out in the first for dale.

i use Gwynn as a late inning replacement for the pitcher.. no matter how much i hate to admit it... he isn't that good.

the al team is just a group of overrated washouts...

taco bell is the only strong point...   century 21 ripken sucks, brett should bat from the left side, and their bench, aside from all or nothing mcgwire, sucks.

of course, the nl all stars also have the pedriq factor.  nothing's a bigger confidence buster than having pedrique get a hit off of you opponent.  Willie Randolph is also pretty bad for the al all stars, but at least he has some speed.

We play it differently for the stars.  We allow each other to use both starters and pitch curvy.  But say you are the NL stars and you are playing DT, then the stars can only use one starter, while DT can use both.  Kinda evens things out.  But for straight pitch, it goes like this: NL, DT, AL, BO, CA, MN, SF, NY, SL, HO.  It is different for curve pitch for me: NL, AL, DT, BO, CA, SF, MN, HO, NY, SL.
